In SNK's Free-To-Play Beast Busters, the King Of Fighters Gang Moonlight As Lightgun Zombie Hunters

Zombie games are not novel. In fact at this point, they're about as far from "novel" as you can get before slipping right off the treacherous slopes of ironic reference. But SNK's latest mobile game Best Busters actually manages to infuse some new ideas into the zombie shooter genre, and pull it off with the developer's signature anime style. Now if only they could do so without falling into the trappings of free-to-play mobile games...

Best Busters is a gallery-style shooter - I'd call it a lightgun game if lightguns actually existed for mobile platforms. Your character stands perfectly still as "Beasts" (zombies) slowly advance.

Zombies, Run! Gets A Bright Red Holo Makeover For Big 3.0 Update And A New Season With Over 60 Missions

The premise behind Zombies, Run! is pretty simple - there are some zombies, and you're probably not going to want them to catch you. Fire up the app, stick some earbuds into your ear, and run. No, run! You typically don't spend too much time looking at your phone while using this app, but (wait, why did you stop moving, run!) the new update to version 3.0 will make sure the app looks holorific the next time you do.

Before.

Zombies4 Zombies5 Zombies6

After.

Developers Six to Start know users don't have all that much time to look at the app while they're running, so it's included a new wave of something other than zombies.

[New Game] PlayStation Port Zombie Tycoon 2 Is The First SHIELD-Only Android Game To Hit The Play Store

Zombie games are more played out than Star Wars at this point, but combining them with new and interesting genres is a way to get my attention. Thus we have Zombie Tycoon 2, the latest game to jump from the PlayStation 3/Vita to Android. But this one is unique: in keeping with its console gaming roots, Zombie Tycoon 2 requires a controller to play. That officially makes this the first SHIELD-exclusive title for the time being. We will likely see it come to other Tegra 4-powered devices eventually, but it'll still require the use of a controller – just something to keep in mind.

[New Game] BulkyPix's 'Dead Effect' Is Like Dead Trigger Meets Dead Space (Read: Zombies On A Spaceship)

While there are no shortage of zombie shoot-em-ups on Android, none have quite reached the level of popularity that Madfinger's Dead Trigger has. While we're still more than a week away from the unveiling of Dead Trigger 2, those who love this type of game may be feeling sad and lonely, wishing for something else to play. Good news! We have just such a game for you: say hello to Dead Effect.

This game is basically Dead Trigger meets Dead Space, as it pits you against armies of undead hordes on a spaceship. It's unclear where these space zombies came from – perhaps something went wrong during some sort of cryo-sleep that accidentally turned the crew of the ship into mindless, flesh-eating undead.

Dead Trigger 2 Drops October 23, New Trailer To Get You In The Zombie-Killing Mood

Zombies are still cool, right? Even if they're not, Dead Trigger 2 could potentially tip the scales of trendiness in favor of the undead. The zombie shoot 'em up has been teased a few times, but now we've got a date. Madfinger Games will release Dead Trigger 2 on October 23 – just in time for Halloween.

The game will be optimized for Tegra 4 devices like the Shield and just announced Tegra Note devices, but any modern Android device should be able to get in on the fun. There will still be lots of zombie shooting, but Dead Trigger 2 will be taking place in an expansive multiplayer world that develops in real time.
