T-Mobile Comet + LG Optimus T Free

Were you one of the many people surprised and delighted when T-Mobile announced that it would be selling the LG Optimus T for just $29.99? If so, you're about to be even more surprised and delighted - both the Optimus T and its Huawei-built brethren are now available for $0.00 on a new two-year contract!

It's not exactly shocking to see Wirefly touting the device free of charge when some of their recent deals are taken into account, but it certainly is a bit surprising to see that T-Mobile's doing the same. While the latter's still charging $29.99 for the colored versions of the phones, Wirefly will hand you both the Burgundy and the Titanium versions free.

The new myTouch 4G is around the corner, and today Wirefly was the first retailer on the web, from what I could tell, to launch preorders on 3 of the 4 color variants: black, white, and red.

The phone is available for $149.99 for new accounts and upgrades and $199.99 for family plans adding a new line.

As usual, Wirefly ships free (November 3rd) and doesn't charge tax in most states.

Here are all 3 phones, linked for your convenience:

Spec recap follows:

  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 "Snapdragon" CPU
  • HSPA+
  • 3.8" WVGA display
  • optical joystick
  • four color options: white, black, plum, red
  • Genius button
  • 8GB preinstalled microSD, expandable to 32GB
  • 5MP camera with 720P recording
  • front-facing camera
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
  • GPS
  • 5oz
  • Android 2.2 with T-Mobile's video chat app that works on both T-Mobile's network and WiFi

So, who is picking one up?

Wirefly, notorious for launching the best mobile deals on the web, did not disappoint us today, which, if you remember, is the official T-Mobile G2 launch date.

While the competition sells the G2 at $199.99 and even $149.99, Wirefly's $99.99 deal for new accounts completely knocks it out of the park.

Add free shipping and the absence of tax, and you get some serious savings left in your pocket. So serious that this deal is now our Deal of the Week (see the top of the sidebar).

Existing T-Mobile customers - your deal isn't as sweet but still better than T-Mobile's own - $199.99 with no tax added on.

Wirefly is notorious for its aggressive pricing when it comes to new phones, and we can't blame them: being an online-only seller, they need to offer something exciting to win customers over from the carriers themselves and other retail locations, such as Best Buy or Radioshack.

The T-Mobile G2 preorder deal that went live today is no exception - it beats out all competition:

  • $149.99 for new accounts ($199.99 for existing ones). Considering T-Mobile itself isn't even letting non-T-Mo customers preorder at all, this is a pretty damn good deal already. However, read on.
  • No tax - Wirefly.com doesn't charge tax, which makes this deal better than even Radioshack's $150 offer and is way under Best Buy's $200 price tag.

Looks like both Wirefly and Amazon Wireless are up to their old, price-slashing tricks again. This time their sights rested on the brand new Samsung Fascinate for Verizon Wireless.

The Deal

The new $99.99 deal, offered by both sites, is a 50% discount off carrier subsidized price of $199.99.

While the BOGO (buy-one-get-one-free) deal offered by Verizon itself technically averages out to about the same price, if you just need 1 Fascinate, Amazon Wireless or Wirefly are the way to go. With no gimmicks, mail in rebates, or TAXES (that's right, neither of the two charge you tax), you can get the Fascinate for about half the green you would part with at a Verizon store.

motorola-charm-front-back

Today, T-Mobile announced that the Motorola Charm is now available, and the pricing options out there in the wild are a bit confusing to say the least.

Wirefly currently has the best deal - you can get the Charm for $0 on a new T-Mobile 2-year contract priced at $59.99 a month. But, if you're a current T-Mobile customer, unless you plan on terminating your current contract, you'll have to fork over $50 and renew your agreement.

Oddly, Wirefly's price for the unsubsidized device is $329.99 which is $60 more than T-Mobile's. Both American retailers are also being undercut by Telus Canada’s recent release price of $250 CAD.

Pre-order Your T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S Series Phone At Wirefly For $149.99 - That's $50 Cheaper Than T-Mobile

Wirefly's Offer

Wirefly - one of the biggest online phone retailers - has put up their preorder offer for the upcoming T-Mobile's version of Galaxy S - the Samsung Vibrant.

Yet again, they didn't disappoint on the pricing and are now offering the best price on the market - $149.99 after an instant $50 discount off the regular price of $199.99.

Pre-order Your T-Mobile Samsung Vibrant Galaxy S Series Phone At Wirefly For $149.99 - That's $50 Cheaper Than T-Mobile

Competing Deals

T-Mobile's own site doesn't even have a preorder up, though listing the $199.99 price in plain view.

Radioshack did offer a decent deal on the Vibrant preorder but instead of the $50 instant discount, you'd be getting a $50 Radioshack gift card.

** Note: This article contains my personal speculation. WireFly will neither confirm nor deny what I suggest in this article. Please don’t sue me. **

Last week, WireFly started a contest called “Why Android Can Beat Up Your iPhone.” Contestants had to write an essay explaining why they thought Android devices were superior to the iPhone(s). There would be 5 winners, and their prize would be the Android device of their choice.

Today, they pulled down the contest. Since Wirefly suspiciously refused to comment on the situation, I begin my rampant (but, let's be honest – probably correct) speculation:

Apple is notorious for being an incredibly litigious company.

HTC Droid Incredible

After a barrage of preorder news, a bunch of previews, and lots of excitement, we bring you two more videos showcasing HTC Droid Incredible's capabilities.

The first one, posted by Verizon's official Youtube account, is an official and professionally shot product review going into all aspects of the Incredible:

The second video, shot by Wirefly, shows what happens when you hook up the Incredible to the TV with the included TV-out port. Playing videos and slideshows on the big screen has never been easier with a mobile phone:
