Wirefly Unboxes Kyocera Echo For Sprint, It Begs To Be Touched… Twice

Sprint has really been pushing people to get into the idea of their dual-screen Kyocera Echo ever since they announced it back in February. Naturally, there has been some resistance to this, but let's put the controversy aside and focus on the topic at hand for a moment, shall we?

The popular cell phone vendor Wirefly has gotten its hands on the first packaging of the Echo, and they were kind enough to do an unboxing for us.

[Deal Alert] HTC Thunderbolt Pre-Order Goes Live On Wirefly, And It's Cheaper Than You Think

Take a deep breath - it's really starting to look like the Thunderbolt saga is approaching the end. Verizon's first 4G LTE device has been through a rollercoaster of predictions, disappointments, and broken promises (over and over), but the latest confirmed date of March 17th we told you about earlier is indeed proving to be legitimate.

As promised, Wirefly just launched the Thunderbolt pre-order page, and if you've been waiting to pick one up, you may be pleasantly surprised.

[Updated: Wirefly's CEO Speaks Out] AT&T Consolidating Handset Retail Channels - No More Third-Party Online Discounts?

The state of North American cellular contract plans might be something that makes Europeans shake their heads in disbelief, but when it comes to phone pricing, Americans have always had it pretty good. Hand over your soul for two years, get Phone X for free (after MIR). Well, it looks like AT&T doesn't think that's the best way to go. No, that doesn't mean cheaper tariffs; don't be silly. Instead, it means more expensive phones, of course!

[Updated] Wirefly Opens Pre-orders For Motorola XOOM: $799.99 With A Month-To-Month Contract, $599.99 2YR

Wirefly just opened pre-orders for the highly anticipated Motorola XOOM, the world's first Honeycomb tablet, and like Best Buy, they'll be selling the device for $799.99 on a mandatory one-month contract that will cost a minimum of $20 (oh, and what's up with the "Switch My Existing Wireless Number to my new MOTOROLA XOOM" option?).

In related news, Wirefly lists a February 24th shipping date, though they note that this is "subject to change." Additionally, if you pre-order an unreleased phone along with your XOOM, your whole order will be held until both items are ready to ship (as opposed to something like Amazon's model, where your orders are shipped separately).

Samsung Galaxy S 4G For T-Mobile Goes Up For Pre-Order At Wirefly, Out February 23rd

The Galaxy S 4G is not the most exciting phone coming out on T-Mobile, but if you've been looking at T-Mobile and eyeing the Samsung Vibrant, then the Galaxy S 4G may be for you. It is essentially a 4G (HSPA+21) capable version of the Vibrant that also comes with a front-facing camera and a mobile HD version of the movie Inception (wait, what?). Sorry, it still ships with Froyo - no word on Gingerbread for any T-Mobile phones other than the Nexus S has been released.

Verizon's 4G LTE Launches Today - Here Is What You Need To Know

Verizon's long-awaited 4G LTE service, promising speeds of 5-12 Mbps down and 2-5 Mbps up, is launching in 38 major metropolitan markets and over 60 airports today (get the full list here). Since no LTE-capable mobile phones exist on VZW just yet, the only way to experience LTE on the move is by getting 1 of 2 (soon to be 3) 4G USB modems. Unlike Sprint's truly unlimited 4G plans, Verizon's plans carry a data cap: $50 for 5GB or $80 for 10GB, with a $10/GB overage fee.
