The Beautiful Cowon D3 Clock Widget Now Available For Download

In late December, XDA member marc22 requested that the beautiful clock widget from the Cowon D3 be recreated in APK form. It took nearly a month, but user rsmartin managed to come through with shining colors. Check it out for yourself:

In typical Android fashion, user lesa0208 took what Bob began with and built upon it, adding some new color choices.

Quite gorgeous, isn't it? At this point, the widget is only available in APK form, and can be found in the official thread.

For fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu Fans: Forever Alone SMS Widget For Stock Messaging App

Those of you who are familiar with F7U12 (FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU) comics will appreciate this: developer Jor dan has released a Forever Alone widget for the stock messaging app. When your unread SMS count is 0, the widget displays the Forever Alone face. When you have unread messages, it switches to the happy Forever Alone face (coincidentally, is there an official name for that?) and shows the count.

If this doesn't make sense to you because you're not familiar with the meme, perhaps the screenshots can help clarify:

foreveralone foreveralone_yay

Left: no unread messages because you're forever alone.

The Beautiful Honeycomb Clock Widget Hits The Market

Remember the mind-blowing Honeycomb UI that we saw a preview of during CES? Well, the absolutely beautiful clock widget from the update is now available for download. The free version offers the standard blue widget we saw on video, while the $1 paid version offers customizable colors. As our friends at Droid-Life point out, this marks the second app available that provides a taste of Honeycomb - we've been playing with the music player for some time now.

Fancy Widget For Android Finally Returns After Cease & Desist From HTC And Months Of Disappearance

If there is one unique thing the HTC Sense UI brings to the table, it's definitely the clock/date/calendar widget. You know the one I'm talking about:

HTC most certainly brought the sexy, and those of us running alternate launchers (Launcher Pro, ADW, etc) or using phones without Sense, were getting kind of jealous. The solution came in the form of an app called Fancy Widget which mimicked the Sense widget almost to a tee, while adding a host of handy options:

Unsuprisingly, Fancy Widget got very popular, and HTC ended up sending Android Does, the widget's developer, a cease and desist order.

Meet Clockr: Replace Your Clock With Pure Text

Yesterday, developer and XDA member zehro released his minimalist clock app, clockr. The app is actually a widget - and it really is as simple as it sounds: it's a pure-text clock.

At the moment, there are no customization options for the widget - that's coming at some point - but it looks like user hollywooder has been hard at work creating alternate themes for the clock. The upside is that there's a degree of variability in usage; the obvious downside is that you need to download and flash an .APK to change the colors.

[Updated] Winamp For Android Arrives To The Android Market, Features Lockscreen Widget (!), Whips Llama's Ass [Hands-On]

Have I gotten a treat for you music lovers? Winamp, the very first good music player for Windows - and one I still use religiously to this day - hit the Android Marketplace today, largely unnoticed in the Androidosphere.

It's still in Beta, but after using it for 15 minutes, I was so impressed that I set it as my default player and uninstalled the others. Let me tell you why, in the order of importance.

[App Of The Week] Audio Manager Pro: Make Volume Adjustment In Android Simple, Tolerable, And Powerful

An Issue of Volume

From the day I eagerly removed the cellophane wrapping around the artful, Google-themed box which contained my Nexus One, I have had only one real gripe with Android: volume management. For a while I just dealt with it - the only way to adjust in-call volume was during a call, and other volume settings had to be controlled via the sound settings menu, or in their proper context.

[App Of The Week] Multicon - Reclaim Your Home Screen Real Estate

Even though I have 7 home screens on my EVO 4G, I still sometimes find myself cramped for space. I have a whole bunch of apps and shortcuts that I would like to have instant access to. Enter Multicon.

The function of Multicon is to make widgets that pack in a number of downsized icons in the space that would normally be occupied by only single ones. This enables you to pack a large number of app shortcuts onto a home screen that only fits 16 by default (on most handsets).
