galaxy s iii

The wait is nearly over for the Galaxy S III if you're on AT&T. The big blue ball has just announced that Samsung's newest flagship will be available for same-day purchases starting July 6th in all of its stores nationwide. The company isn't sharing specifics on whether that will include only the blue and white versions of the phone, or if we'll also see AT&T's exclusive red version of the device. If we had to bet on it, we'd say the red version will still be a little way's off.

The device will also be available for overnight shipping on July 6th, so if you're keen to order online, you'll be covered as well.

In all honesty, I get a little more excited than I probably should when it seems like someone's marketing department has accidentally revealed juicy details. Today, after seeing Jelly Bean 4.1 teased in a thumbnail image and checkout page (which was quickly redacted), it seems that Sprint may have let slip the existence of a white version of the HTC EVO 4G LTE. In a banner found on the Now Network's website earlier today, we see a white Samsung Galaxy SII (nothing surprising there) right next to a white and silver version of the EVO LTE.

Whether this was just a last minute color-swap to create a more visually cohesive banner or a secret hint at a whiter, brighter EVO LTE is still up for debate.

After a relatively dreary news day, TmoNews breathed life into the Android world with an exciting leak many of us have been anticipating for quite some time: the release date of the T-Mobile Galaxy S III.

T-Mobile's editions of the device - which are among the few potential challengers to HTC's superb One X - will begin sale on (drum roll please) June 20th. There'll reportedly be two colors - metallic blue and ceramic white - as well as two storage capacities: 16GB and 32GB. However, if it's the ceramic white version you're after, you won't be able to grab it until July 11th; and even then, it appears it'll only be available in the 16GB capacity.

If you still haven't gotten your hands on Samsung's coveted Galaxy Nexus, now's your chance – Daily Steals is offering the 16GB Galaxy Nexus, unlocked, in either silver or white, for the crazy low price of $459.99. That's a whopping $290 off list price (and $70 cheaper than the last deal we saw).

If for whatever reason you haven't memorized the Galaxy Nexus' specs just yet, here's a list of reasons why it's an awesome phone:

  • Pure Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience
  • 16GB internal storage
  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 4.56" 720p HD Super AMOLED display
  • 5MP rear shooter (and 1.3MP front-facing camera)
  • 1GB RAM

This deal will only be around until midnight on March 22, so those interested in grabbing an unlocked Galaxy Nexus at an awesome price should head over to Daily Steals (linked below) and take advantage of the discount.

HTC-Sensation-White-1

The Sensation is one of HTC's most popular handsets overseas, and despite being launched nearly a year ago (May 19,2011), the company just announced a new "Ice White" version. While there are no differences in hardware, the outside will obviously be white (à la Amaze 4G). More importantly, though: it will launch on March 1, and run Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) out of the gate.

That's a pretty big deal for two reasons: first, because as we discussed yesterday, Sense 4.0 (which HTC will slap over top of ICS) pretty much sucks. Second, because that would suggest the ICS update for the normal Sensation should drop before (or at the very least, by) then - after all, the only difference between the white and normal model is the color of the backplate.

There's no doubt that white phones are (generally) sexy. We know this, and it seems that manufacturers are starting to catch on as well. HTC has a few white phones available, and Samsung has already pushed out a couple of white variations of the GSII on T-Mobile and AT&T. Looks like Sprint's GSII, the Epic 4G Touch, is now getting the snow-capped makeover that we heard about a few weeks ago, and will be available on January 8th for $200 with a two-year agreement.

The E4GT isn't the only Sammy device getting a makeover, either. Word on the street is that an all-white Galaxy Nexus is coming to the UK at the end of February, though we have yet to see any pictures of this potentially beautiful device.

Following the example set by AT&T and T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy SII variants, Sprint's Epic 4G Touch is set to get its own white counterpart, probably in early 2012. Pocket Now speculates that the Epic 4G Touch's white version may be announced at CES.

Personally, I'm hoping Sprint has a little more to talk about at CES than their own white SII, but the paint job does look rather flattering. While the above shot is all we have to go on for now, we'll be here to cover any other details that may emerge.

Last week, Samsung showed off the white variant of the T-Mobile Galaxy S II, which will be available sometime before the holidays. T-Mo isn't the only one getting a white GSII, though - Sammy just announced white version of the Galaxy S II Skyrocket on AT&T. The white Skyrocket will share the same specs as the black variant:

  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 8MP rear shooter, 2MP front
  • Android 2.3.x with TouchWiz

The white Skyrocket will be available on December 4th and should be going for the same price as the exiting model.

Who wants a white Galaxy S II? Good news! Your dream is going to become a reality soon enough - if you're on T-Mobile that is. That's right, an all white version of the GSII will be landing in T-Mo stores and online sometimes before the holidays. Vague, I know, but that's all the info we have right now as far as availability is concerned.

The white version will most likely share the same specs as the current, black version:

  • 4.52-inch 480x800 Super AMOLDED Plus display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 8MP rear shooter, 2MP front
  • Android 2.3.x with Touchwiz

Anyone interested in picking one of these up when it comes out?

Update: If you've been holding your breath waiting for this beauty, you can breathe a sigh of relief, as it's now available at RadioShack. Woot.

Could the EVO 3D on Sprint get even better? Well, sure - it could use a bit of Ice Cream Sandwich, but we'll remain realistic for the time being and take RadioShack's exclusive white version instead. The new sleeker, more gorgeous than ever EVO 3D variant will be coming September 9th, as outed by a screenshot posted by RadioShack's own Twitter account. Lookin' good, isn't it?
