The GO team is, by now, pretty well known - and for good reason. They offer an unbelievable number of ways to overhaul your phone - such as GO SMS Pro, GO Contacts, and GO Keyboard - not to mention dozens of themes for all of their apps. But they are perhaps most well known for GO Launcher EX, and the tons of widgets (and more!) Now, they've released a new one to go with the Launcher: GO Weather Widget.

Three widget sizes are offered (as shown in the left image above): 4x2, 4x1, and 1x1.

There's no shortage of weather apps in the Android Market - they're all pretty useful and give basically the same information. So how do you make one that stands out? If you ask OneLouder Apps, the same guys behind apps like Tweetcaster, Friendcaster, and BaconReader, they'd tell you to make it one of the most visually stunning apps in the Android Market. And that's exactly what they've done.

The app is called 1Weather, and we've never seen anything quite like it.  Not only is it one of the most gorgeous apps we've ever seen, but it's also extremely functional, informative, and customizable.

Weather Underground, a popular (and extremely useful) online weather service, released its official app to the Android Market yesterday, bringing sophisticated, reliable weather reporting to the palm of your hand.

Perhaps the most handy of Weather Underground's features is the Interactive Wundermap, which allows users to get vital weather information in various forms, from webcam to satellite overlays to radar animations.

WUnderground's app also includes up-to-the-minute local conditions from weather stations near you, reporting temperatures, "feels like" temperatures, hourly forecasts, interactive maps, 7-day forecasts, and more. Weather Underground also utilizes over 22,000 neighborhood weather stations, giving you "the most localized weather information available."

Overall, Weather Underground's app seems to live up to the name established by "the internet's first ever weather site." Best of all, the app is completely free in the Android Market, so there's no reason not to check it out.

Each month, Research2Guidance puts out a report on Android Market paid apps, which includes how they stack up against each other. The current state of the Market is somewhat of a surprise, as weather and business apps hold the top two grossing spots, with productivity, media & video, and books & reference rounding out the top five. However, one of the most downloaded categories on the Market - games - doesn't show up on the list until number seven, suggesting users would rather download a free game, rather than pay for one.

If you're looking to make money on Android, though, R2G suggests focusing on business apps, as it's highly unlikely for anyone to make "yet-another great weather app."

We've been fascinated with the Parrot ASTEROID ever since we first saw it at CES, but as the company has missed its Q2 deadline and let out nary a peep about the Android-powered car unit in the last seven months, we were starting to get concerned about our chances of seeing it hit the market.

Fortunately, Parrot quenched our thirst for further information this morning - the AR.Drone manufacturer published an official press release, and the ASTEROID's availability is a mystery no more. The car unit will be available this October for $349, and will pack a 3.2" TFT color (non-touch) screen, 4 USB ports, a jack cable, RCA, and of course a customized version of Android.

Former Blackberry users may recognize the name Bellshare from such apps as BerryBuzz/BeBuzz and BerryWeather, but now the devs are trying their hand at Android apps -- and they're asking for users to come forward to do some beta testing. BeWeather looks to be a pretty impressive weather tracker, offering current conditions, wind, pressure, dew point, and humidity in your choice of 11 different widgets.

It doesn't stop there, though, as it also offers high def videos, 7-day and 24-hour forecast, geolocation, weather advisories via push notification, animated maps, sunrise/sunset times and moon phase, all inside of a completely customizable interface.

The upcoming version of Sense 3.0, found on such devices as the HTC Sensation, Sensation 4G, EVO 3D, Flyer, and EVO View 4G, will offer polish of unprecedented quality to the custom software layer HTC puts on all of its non-Nexus devices. The new lockscreen widgets and quick controls, spinning homescreens, updated camera software, and snappiness are just some of the features Sense 3.0 brings to the table (some nice demos here).

And here's another one - the Sense Weather has gotten a complete makeover - if you thought the regular Sense Weather widgets were to die for, wait till you see what 3.0's got in store.

Thanks to sano614 over at the XDA forums you can now have a few of the goodies from the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer on other Honeycomb tablets, specifically the super-nifty My Water live wallpaper and ASUS's weather widget. You've probably seen this wallpaper before - it's the beverage-esque one that moves around on your screen as you shift your tablet around, complete with ice cubes and bubbles. The weather widget offers what you would expect: current conditions and temperature in a visually stimulating package.

I've uploaded both the widget and the wallpaper to our mirror for convenience purposes, but don't forget to jump over the to source thread at XDA and drop a thank you note.

Almost 2 months ago, CNN pushed out its first news app to the Android Market, though with one quite annoying caveat - it was created specifically for Honeycomb devices, which were quite scarce to say the least (i.e. the XOOM).

As you can imagine, those without Honeycomb tablets pretty much everyone started demanding an app as well and today finally got their wish granted. CNN App for Android Phones (as opposed to CNN App for Android) was just released to the Market, with support for Android 2.1+ and full of features you would expect from a smaller screen port of its big brother:

"Do we need yet another weather widget?" you might say, glancing at the title of this post, and while I would usually agree, I am going to urge you to take a look at Aix Weather Widget that came out today. I myself don't even have a weather widget on my homescreen, and frankly, this is the only one so far I have seriously considered adding.

Unlike traditional weather widgets that show max and min temperatures together with some flashy picture of the sun or clouds, the 4x1 Aix Weather Widget actually contains enough data for a full day (for now - a week view may come later).
