It's not often we find ourselves excited about prepaid here in the US, but if any store can get people excited about saving money, it's Walmart. And what Walmart and T-Mobile just announced is actually pretty exciting if you're looking for a way to get on the smartphone bandwagon with low monthly overhead.

Target, Walmart, Best Buy And More Are Making A Google Wallet Competitor Called MCX

Yesterday, a rumor at the Wall Street Journal stated that major retailers like Walmart, Target, and 7-Eleven were in the process of teaming up to create their own mobile payment solution. They sure didn't waste much time on making it official, as this morning that solution was announced as "MCX" - or, Merchant Customer Exchange. Sexy.

This is a big deal, though. And it's a big deal because of the names in the headline above - quite literally most places where Americans buy things have come together to create a mobile wallet system.

Dubbed the "nation's thinnest 4G smartphone", this 8.99mm Android 2.2 device features a gigantic 4.5" Super AMOLED Plus display (it really does look enormous on such a thin profile), a 1.2GHz Hummingbird processor, an 8MP rear camera with 720p video capture, a 1.3MP front camera, and Samsung's proprietary Touchwiz UI.

[New App] Walmart For Android (No, This Didn't Exist Before Now)

With all of the retail giants out there, I'm really surprised that Walmart is this late to the game in releasing its Android app. I guess the old saying "better late than never" applies here just as much as anywhere else, and any app that makes our lives easier is always a welcome addition in my book.

The Walmart app offers up all of the goodies that you need to shop-on-the-go, like deals, recent price drops, search, and store locator (including a filter to find stores with specific departments, like pharmacy).

Samsung Infuse 4G Shows Its Face In A Walmart Circular, $178.88 Price Tag Intact

Remember the massive-screened Samsung Infuse 4G that was announced back in January? If not, that doesn't come as much of a surprise, as this phone has found a way to stay out of the rumor mill since then. It couldn't stay silent forever, though, and now it has finally surfaced in a Walmart circular, accompanied by a $178.88 price tag (presumably with a new two-year agreement on AT&T). Unfortunately, there isn't an exact launch date listed, only that it's "available May 2011."

  • 1.2GHz Hummingbird Processor
  • 16GB Internal storage, SD Card slot
  • 8MP Rear camera with 1080P video capture, 1.3MP front camera
  • Android 2.2

As you can tell, this phone is nothing to turn your nose up at.

Samsung Droid Charge's Price Tag Shows Up - Sit Down Before You Read It

Are you sitting down? Assuming you're reading this on your PC, I would imagine that you are. Unless, of course, you have a standing desk, in which case I urge you to sit down. We've seen it pop up on the web but haven't really heard anything about its price. This time, however, it looks like it made an in-store appearance at Walmart and brought a price tag along with it.
