Spiderfly Studios has a knack for developing apps that extend Android's functionality in the least obtrusive way possible. Their most popular app thus far, Glowfly, offers holo-friendly SMS popup notifications with support for images and sending quick replies. Their latest offering, Stormfly, offers HD wallpapers that change as the weather does. It's not an original concept by any means, but the studio has managed to throw together an app that does this in the most integrated way possible, and they do so without putting much of a strain on bandwidth. Here are the wallpapers from the new Nexus 7 that is now available for pre-order and was shown off in full detail yesterday. From what I can tell, there is only one really new wallpaper compared to what came with the previous Nexuses, and it's the one that the new Nexus 7 comes with selected by default. I ran it through TinEye and Google's Reverse Image Search, and it's the only one that returned no existing hits. Read More
Pimp Your Screen is an iOS port that has received a complete makeover for its Android debut. While the original gives our Apple peers customizable app shelves and themed locked screens, our version comes decked out with a trunkful of decent wallpapers and nifty widgets. There's little here that we Android enthusiasts couldn't find elsewhere, but this is a nice tool to hand to a new or casual user who wants to pimp their ride without having to give it too much effort. HTC Sense 5 wallpapers, wallpapers, 18 gorgeous wallpapers! Who wants them? Do you want one? And you? Wallpapers for everybody!
Thanks to some quick thinking of an enterprising xda-developers forum member loan92, who used his charm and boyish good looks to distract HTC employees from his sneaky actions at an event in Italy, we have eighteen beautiful wallpapers the company bundled with the upcoming One flagship.
For your convenience, I've mirrored them to an imgur gallery where they can be viewed using the widget below. Read More
If you aren't quite feeling the holiday spirit yet, Google has decided to lend a hand with a few holiday-oriented offerings focused on our favorite green robot.
The official Nexus page on Google+ shared a few "Happy Holiday Cards" this evening, depicting Bugdroid hanging out with some arctic pals sitting by a fire, having a party, ice skating, and – of course – playing with Android-powered phones and tablets. To download the full-resolution cards or share with friends, just click through to the original post, linked below. Read More
MyColorScreen is a site where Android enthusiasts can show off the sometimes stunning UIs they design with various apps and mods. Most of what you come across on the site is fairly predictable; a different widget here and a custom wallpaper there. Although, on occasion someone creates something truly wonderful, and the new PIE UI from AdamF is definitely one of those.
The PIE UI theme is a unique UI that takes advantage of a number of apps like WidgetLocker, Nova Launcher, and Power Widget. Read More

A few weeks ago, we launched what ended up being my favorite creative Android Police contest to date - the wallpaper design contest. With over 250 submissions, it took me a little while to sort through everything and pick out the two winners, the top 25 runners-up, and even one hilarious entry that we absolutely had to include.
As promised, the first place entry will receive a 16GB Sony Tablet S, and the second one will get the Philips Fidelio AS851 that we reviewed earlier. Read More
Following up on the success of our 404 design and banner design contests, we've decided to run another creative giveaway, graciously sponsored by NVIDIA and Philips. Personally, I think the creative contests are always the best - we get beautiful graphic assets and designs, and our talented readers get a platform on which to showcase their skills and creative abilities. Besides all that, looking through the entries is always a good time. Read More
Hot on the heels of the leaked media files, we now have yet another leak, also courtesy of P3Droid, this time of the 12 wallpapers found in Ice Cream Sandwich. As someone put it on reddit: "I feel like whoever is leaking these is like some kind of psychopath giving us parts of his victim, piece by piece." That sounds pretty accurate, doesn't it?
You can download an app P3 put together (registration required) and use it to install these wallpapers, or if you want to explore by yourself:
