CyanogenMod 10.1 Nightlies Arrive For Verizon And Sprint Galaxy S III Variants

The CyanogenMod team has been slowly but surely rolling out CM 10.1 builds for various devices - mostly Samsung - over the last week or so. A handful of new tablets and phones hit just yesterday, including the LTE Galaxy Nexus variants, 3G Nexus 7, Galaxy S, SII, some SIII variants, and Galaxy Tab 2. Adding to that list, builds for the Verizon and Sprint variants just hit the scene this morning.

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

Verizon Announces Several More LTE Markets For December 20th

After a couple years of working on its LTE Network, we've come to expect these monthly market activations from VZW. The lists started off small - consisting of mostly big cities - but as the towns get smaller, the lists get longer. Earlier this month, Big Red announced that it would be bringing LTE to a slew of new markets on December 20th:

Port Townsend, WA
Sequim, WA
Kennewick, WA
Pasco, WA
Richland, WA
Klamath Falls, OR
Roseburg, OR
Jackson Hole, WY

Today, however, it has expanded that list by several more areas:

[One-Day Deal Alert] Sprint, Verizon, And AT&T 16GB GSIII For $50, T-Mo For $80 From Best Buy Mobile

As always, the closer we get to the holidays, the more deals we see. It's anything but uncommon to see one-day super deals pop up just before Christmas, and today Best Buy is offering the Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon variants of the 16GB Galaxy S III for just $50 and 32GB for $99 (Verizon only) with a two-year agreement. T-Mo customers are stuck paying a bit more, with the 16GB handset coming in at $80 and 32GB variant for $130.

Of course, this deal is for today only, so if a GSIII is on your - or a loved one's - holiday wishlist, head here to take advantage of it.

Verizon Flipping The Switch On 4G LTE In Multiple Markets Out West On December 20

It can be hard to hear how speedy and wonderful Verizon's 4G LTE is when there isn't a 4G tower within 100 miles of your home. Well, that's about to change for some lucky folks in the western half of the US come December 20. Big Red continues to creep closer to a 100% overlay with its 3G network all the time.

Samsung Drops Open Source Files For Verizon Galaxy Camera, AT&T Galaxy SIII Jelly Bean, AT&T Galaxy Tab 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich

Samsung, continuing its habit of timely code releases, today let fly open source kernel files for a handful of devices including Verizon's newly announced Galaxy Camera (EK-GC120), AT&T's Galaxy SIII Jelly Bean update (SGH-I747), and last but not least, AT&T's Galaxy Tab 8.9 Ice Cream Sandwich release (SGH-I957).

Redbox Instant By Verizon Details Announced: Unlimited Streaming & Four One-Night Disc Rentals Per Month

We've been hearing rumblings for a while now about Redbox partnering with Verizon for a streaming service. Today, the company announced the details of that arrangement: for $8/month you can get access to unlimited streaming of a selection of movies (including the EPIX library which, for those who don't know, is pretty impressive), as well as four monthly credits to rent a physical movie for one night from any Redbox kiosk.

The plan is clearly aimed to compete with Netflix directly. Customers may recall that the current leader in the streaming video world split off its DVD services from the Instant collection in an attempt to increase revenue.

Verizon's Galaxy Camera Will Go On Sale For $550 On Dec. 13th, Shared Data Plan For $5 Per Month Promo Price

AT&T has already launched its version of the Galaxy Camera, so now it's Verizon's turn. Arriving in both white and black options, the nation's largest carrier will be offering the high tech point and shoot for $550 without a contract. This is a little bit steeper than AT&T's $500, but to make up for it, the carrier is allowing customers to add this device to their existing shared data plans for $5/month. Not a bad deal.

When Liam reviewed it a while back, he decided it was a good camera, but didn't live up to the price. The even higher tag here might dissuade some customers, however, it's worth noting that if you're the target market for this kind of device and you land this promotional plan (that's only available for an unspecified limited time), you'll make up the extra $50 within the first year.

[Deal Alert] Amazon Wireless Offering Verizon Galaxy SIII For $79.99 With New Account, Line Activation

In case you missed the Black Friday deals on the Galaxy SIII but still want to get your hands on Samsung's flagship smartphone, Amazon's got a deal for you. The retail giant's Wireless arm is offering the Galaxy SIII (in your choice of white, blue, black, or brown) connected to Verizon for just $79.99 when you activate a new account or add a line to your existing service. This beats Amazon's previous deal on the SIII by about $20.00.

With an ample 4.8" Super AMOLED display, 2GB RAM, an 8MP camera, and a slim 7.6mm thick chassis, the Galaxy SIII is no doubt one of the best-spec'ed Android devices available.

Verizon's Galaxy Note II Available Today For $300 With A Two-Year Agreement

Roughly 20 hours ago, Verizon and Samsung finally announced that the Big Red variant of the Note II would be available today. And, well, now it's available.

You can get this monstrous not-quite-a-tablet-but-more-than-a-phone for $300 with a two-year agreement, but it seems to me that Verizon should've knocked at least $50 more off that price for the obtrusiveness of the branding which they so graciously slapped on the home button.

Still, if constantly being reminded of your carrier ball and chain isn't an issue, you can head over to any Verizon retail store, Best Buy Mobile (white), or Verizon's site to fulfill your dreams of having a phone that's almost as big as your head.

Verizon And Samsung Finally Announce The Galaxy Note II Release Date: Available Beginning November 29th For $300

Hey Verizon customers - I bet you've been jealous watching all the Note II action on other carriers, haven't you? We've seen the releases come, and Amazon Wireless slash prices for basically all versions of the device. Still, everyone on Verizon was left wanting. Good news! Big Red just announced that the Note II will be available beginning tomorrow, November 29th for $300 with a two-year agreement.

So, if you can handle the obtrusive branding on the home button and are willing to dedicate two more years of your mobile life to VZW, you can stroll right into a Verizon retail store and walk out with your very own Note II first thing tomorrow.
