Holy crap. Brace yourself for some Friday afternoon bad news -- it looks like Google may be washing its hands of all associations with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus. No one knows for sure why El Goog would do this, but all signs point to the fact that it is indeed turning its back on the first ICS phone here in the US.

Update x2: Let's see if we can clear this up a bit, shall we?

The Droid 4 is the latest iteration in the venerable Droid series. Sporting Motorola's new trademark slightly octagon-ish shape, a 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, LTE, and an 8MP rear-shooter, this device brings the Droid series into the world of the future yet again. That future starts February 10th, if this leaked internal Verizon document is to be believed.

An anonymous, but trusted, source sent us this doc from Verizon's internal equipment guide that shows the Droid 4 will launch via all channels February 10th, 2012.

As promised, the ultra-impressive DROID RAZR MAXX went on sale today, but for a premium price of $300 with a new two-year contract at Verizon. Not so, says Wirefly, who is charging just $230 for the thin-yet-juiced phone.

What's so special about the MAXX? It's nearly the same as the DROID RAZR, but with one major difference: it's nearly 2mm thicker (for a total thickness of a still-svelte 9mm) to accommodate a whopping 3,300 mAh battery (versus 1,780 in the non-MAXX version).

A software update for the HTC Rezound is coming soon, according to Verizon's support page for the device. Hoping it's the update Rezound owners have been waiting for - you know, the one to ICS? Sorry to burst your bubble, but there's nothing to it but minor bugfixes and changes. But hey, you can't complain about them fixing things in the interim, can you? The update bumps things up to version number 2.01.605.11 and baseband 0.95.00.1118r.

Update 1/26/12: The MAXX is now live on VZW (thanks, Vinoth):

If you were following along with us and the action of CES, then you undoubtedly caught the announcement of the Droid RAZR MAXX, an 8.99 mm thin beast packing a 3,300 mAh battery that will likely outlast you in terms of needing to recharge. While it is nearly 2 mm thicker than the original Droid RAZR, it is still incredibly thin for how long the battery lasts.

The LG Spectrum is probably one of the most impressive phones that you'll find with a sub-$200 price tag in the current market. It may not be packing the insanely powerful NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, but don't sell it short - it's a sleek device.

  • 4.5-inch 1280x720 display
  • 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB built-in storage, microSD card slot
  • 8MP rear shooter, 1.3MP ffc
  • 1,830mAh battery
  • Android 2.3.5 (Android 4.0 update promised)
  • 4G LTE

It landed on Verizon just one short week ago for the reasonable price of $200, but that just wasn't good enough for the guys at Amazon wireless.

Droid RAZR MAXX

Verizon Wireless and Motorola just took the wraps off the new Droid RAZR - the Droid RAZR MAXX, a familiar name we saw leaked a few weeks ago. The RAZR MAXX contains the following changes compared to the original:

  • A beefier battery with an unknown at the moment capacity. What we do know is that it allows for more than 21 hours of talk time on a single charge.

Late yesterday, we got a chance to spend some time with the Motorola DROID 4 over at the Verizon booth here at CES, and we have to say - It sure seems like Motorola has done it again. The DROID 4 will likely once again set the bar for QWERTY slider phones, and thanks to the addition of 4G LTE and a snappy TI OMAP 4430 dual-core processor (the same one found in the DROID RAZR), it's also going to be the fastest DROID yet.

Update: LG just made official the Spectrum at CES, confirming the below list specs. It's a beast, baby!

Here's one monster product (spec-wise, at least) that you won't have to wait months after CES for. Previously rumored as the Revolution 2, Verizon is set to launch the LG Spectrum on January 19, with a display that might even give the Galaxy Nexus a run for its money:

Yes, that's right - at just half an inch thick, the Droid 4 is the world's thinnest 4G LTE QWERTY Smartphone. Not only is it ridiculously thin (for a slider), but it also packs some pretty raw power under it's hood. Check out what it has to offer:

  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB of RAM
  • Android 2.3.5 (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgradable)
  • 4-Inch "scratch-and-scrape resistant" display
  • 16GB internal memory, Up To 32 GB microSD card supported
  • Full five-row QWERTY
  • 8MP rear shooter with 1080p HD Video Capture
  • 4G LTE Capable (duh)

Note from Cameron: I would like to take this opportunity to put my foot in my mouth.
