It looks like Samsung is sending the latest public version of Android 'round the houses. Yesterday the Galaxy Note 3 on Sprint got upgraded to Android 4.4.4, and according to a few end users, Verizon's flavor of the Galaxy S5 is getting it today. A long thread on the popular XDA Developers forum began a few hours ago, with multiple Galaxy S5 owners reporting the download coming in. One user posted the download link, a hefty 346MB file.

Motorola's Punit Soni: There Will Be No Second Generation Moto X Developer Edition For Verizon

Root addicts and ROM flashers on Verizon, prepare to lose it. According to a short question and answer session with Motorola Mobility's VP of Product Management Punit Soni, there will be no Developer Edition of the swanky second-gen Moto X for Verizon. Google+ user Shane Barone asked Mr. Soni about the availability of a developer edition and got this apologetic reply:

Developer Editions are special carrier editions of phones sold without a contract and with an unlockable bootloader, made available for customers on carriers that permanently lock bootloaders as a matter of course.

New Moto X Confirmed For AT&T, Verizon, And US Cellular - Moto Hint For AT&T

The new Moto X is official, and now, so are a few of its carrier arrangements. This list is bound to grow over time, but as of now AT&T, Verizon, and US Cellular have all confirmed that they will carry the phone this fall. HTC One M7 owners using Verizon's network have a treat coming down the pipeline in a matter of days. The company's Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi has taken to Twitter to announce that an over-the-air update bring Android 4.4.3 is due out later this week. This version of Android will apparently be joined by the awaited Extreme Power Saving mode as well.

Verizon Settles With The FCC On A $7.4 Million Fine For Marketing That Violated Customer Privacy

Update, 9-4-13: a Verizon Wireless spokesman reached out to say that the wireless provider hasn't been fined by the FCC, and that the landline services provider (providers of home Internet and cable services) is the one being fined. Verizon and Verizon Wireless are technically separate companies. The headline and story text have been altered to reflect this.

There are a lot of good reasons not to like Verizon. But the Federal Communications Commission has taken particular exception to at least one of Verizon's practices from way back in 2006.

Yes, @evleaks has officially retired from leaking gadgets, but it appears Mr. Blass had one more treat for the tech community - images that appear to show the Moto X+1 in two variants, both emblazoned with Verizon logos. One is all-black, while the other sports a white front and a wooden back.
