Google has started rolling out the newest update to Glass, dubbed XE9. This version of the Glass software enables Google Apps users to sign into glass, which was a major requested feature. There are also new Google Now cards, sound search, and a cool UI overlay feature called Vignettes.

It's a situation too many Android users are intimately familiar with. You get a shiny new phone, and you love it. Then the days turn to weeks, the weeks to months, and suddenly a new version of your phone is released. Oh sure, at first you think it will be fine. The new phone is faster and thinner, but you like your smartphone. Then the updates dry up like a puddle in the unforgiving desert sun, and your phone slides slowly into complete obsolescence.

Action Launcher is one of the more interesting home screen replacements out there, and it's getting better with a big update to version 1.9 today. There are a few new features, but the app has also gotten a plethora of bug fixes and optimizations that should make it faster and more stable.

Sony has announced that a previously promised maintenance update for the Xperia S, Xperia SL, and Xperia Acro S is hitting the internet tubes now. These devices received an Android 4.1 update a while back, but now the OEM is tying up some loose ends with a new Jelly Bean build. It should reach all users soon.

Just because you use Facebook, that doesn't mean you have a Facebook page. We all have profiles, but pages are typically reserved for organizations, artists, or products. That said, anyone can create a Facebook page. Yes, anyone They're practically giving them away. And while you're creating a page of your own, check out the Facebook Pages Manager app, which was updated recently with a number of nice features that make managing that new page a bit easier.

Update: Multiple confirmations now that this update is indeed happening. Commenters and some well-known XDA users are getting JWR66Y. It's still looking like a minor security update and nothing more.

Update 2: The 3G Nexus 7 (2012) is getting the update as well. Not only that, the OTA update link has been spotted. This is the Nakasig version, remember. The WiFi variant is Nakasi, and no news on that yet.

While we haven't heard a peep about the Android 4.2 update rolling out to the HTC One in the US, it's old news in Europe. In fact, HTC is already rolling out the 4.2 update to last year's flagship, the HTC One X, on that side of the pond. European owners of the Tegra 3-powered handset will now get to taste Sense 5, including BlinkFeed, but they have the option to disable the latter if they're not interested.

Google Glass Explorers are in for a treat today as the monthly update to Google's wearable computer is starting to rollout right now. This update continues the trend of incremental improvements to the device, but Google is at least responding to some user requests with XE8.

HTC hasn't completely forgotten its older devices as it continues talking up the HTC One. The One X+ is finally getting an update to Android 4.2.2, which is actually newer software than the current generation One in the US runs... but that's beside the point. The OTA is hitting Taiwan first, but we've already got a full system dump and a ROM based on it.

The software features are essentially the same as you'd see on other HTC devices running 4.2.2.

Chromecast is one of the slicker devices to come out of Google HQ in a while. After you're all set up, just tap a button on YouTube or Netflix, and BAM, whatever you were watching is now on your television. It's really awesome.

For the researchy-types like me, the Chromecast comes with two piece of software to dig through. The first is the physical device software, which, while it is sort-of Android based, it's only Android-based at the low level.
