This week the latest batch of over-the-air security updates started rolling out to Nexus devices, most going under version LMY48M. Google also posted the goods online in the form of factory images. The company then went on to provide a list of the security fixes.
Eight make the list, with one having actually been exploited in the wild. Though whether this was used maliciously or just someone rooting their own device is unclear. None of the vulnerabilities are newly disclosed. Read More
Chances are that if you're in the recovery interface of your phone, it's because you broke something, need to force an update, and you're just fiddling with things. The stock recovery doesn't have a ton of options, which is why alternatives like ClockworkMod and TWRP exist. Still, the stock recovery in Android M is a little more capable than before.

Teardowns can bring both good and bad news. At times, I've been afraid to write about things buried in the dark corners of an apk because they would be misunderstood or make people angry. Then there are times that I see something and I can't wait to tell everybody about it. This is one of the good times. I know people want this, so here it is: Inbox is finally going to offer email signatures. Go ahead, it's ok to shed tears of joy.

Starting with the One M7, HTC promised customers that it would deliver two years of updates. This promise came after the manufacturer abandoned its previous flagship early on, leaving the One X stranded on Android 4.2 long after 4.3 had hit devices and 4.4 became a thing.
But now, the end of the line has come for the One M7. Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi has confirmed on Twitter that the 2013 flagship will not receive Android 5.1, except for the Google Play Edition. That variant is slated to get an update sometime in April.

This is especially useful when sharing files to people who aren't using Gmail and therefore don't enjoy the smooth integration with Drive that Gmail has. For those worried that Google would abandon Gmail with the recent focus on Inbox, this is encouraging news. Gmail continues to refine its already stellar web functionality. Read More

Lucky developers and Google I/O attendees who received an Android Wear watch and tried to use navigation commands must have noticed that this aspect of the experience wasn't working at all. Commands simply wouldn't carry through to the phone. This will all be fixed with the update to Google Maps version 8.1.1.
The update, which should be pushed to your device or coming shortly, squashes the regular bugs and adds support for Android Wear devices. The navigation and maps commands on the watches now carry through to the phone and are interpreted as expected. You can search for a location, start navigating, see directions, and exit when you're done, all from your wrist. Read More
