noteII

US Cellular is issuing an update to their variant of Samsung's Galaxy Note II, bringing the baseband version up to R950VXALL1. The headline feature with this update, as may be expected, is multi-window support. That's not all the R950VXALL1 package brings, though.

The update, besides evidently bringing the device up to Android "4.1.4" Jelly Bean (did you mean to say "4.1.2" there, USC?), brings an armload of bug fixes, from a "Burst Mode" camera fix to occasional toggling between 3G and 1X, to minor UI changes including the replacement of the notification shade's "sync" button with a multi-window shortcut and a makeover for the phone's Sound icon, switching from gray to green.

Update 2: Llama has been returned to the Play Store this morning as promised, listed as version 1.2012.12.29.1412. As for the pesky silent mode/vibrate bug? This version's changelog indicates that it is "hopefully fixed."

Update: It looks like KebabApps has pulled Llama from the Play Store while the developer sorts out "a pain-in-the-butt problem involving silent mode," in which the app can – for some users – switch what should be silent mode to vibrate mode. KebabApps, in a blog post, provides more information on the issue, along with a (hopefully) fixed download, which users are encouraged to test, and which will be uploaded to the Play Store "tomorrow morning."

Llama, an extremely popular location-based profiling app, was issued an "über üpdate" today, bringing a handful of big changes from a new UI to bug fixes.

Ever since Samsung released the Note II with awesome new features like Multi-Window and Air View, owners of the original Note have been wondering if they would ever see these enhancements. Considering the Galaxy S III started receiving its Premium Suite update about a week ago, we all assumed that the Note would be next. Samsung has now confirmed that with a new microsite highlighting all of the features of the Jelly Bean Premium Suite for the phablet that started it all.

The update is set to bring many of the features that make the Note II so great, including Multi-Window, Popup Note/Video/Browser, Easy Clip, Paper Artist, Air View, and more.

Hot on the heels of the Jelly Bean update for the Excite 7.7, Toshiba is also pushing the OTA to its larger brother, the Excite 10. Reports are scattered and details are pretty scant at the moment, but we have confirmed that it's rolling out now.

It appears that the OTA – which brings Android 4.1.1 – is being pushed in stages to both the AT300 and AT305. You can see if it's available on your device by heading into Settings > About Tablet > System Updates or by jumping directly into Toshiba's Service Station.

Happy Pulling!

Thanks, Tiffany!

It may not be all that often that a phone over a year old will still be getting many updates, but lo and behold, it's a Festivus miracle. Users are reporting that the original Droid RAZR/RAZR MAXX is currently seeing an update roll out to Jelly Bean (4.1.2) right now. And to think, this phone launched with Gingerbread.

The update is 331.7MB, so you'll want to get on WiFi before you start the download. Once it's installed your system version will be bumped to 98.72.8, and Jelly Bean will be all yours, and everything that entails, including Google Now, Project Butter, and all the fancy new voice search options.

Wonderful news for the roughly everyone on the planet who plays Shadowgun: Deadzone: a whole bunch of new stuff is rolling out today! Notably, there's the Gangs feature which allows you to create groups of friends to play with. There are also a couple new maps that you can explore. And by "explore" I mean "kill things in."

This isn't the first time that Dropbox has released beta versions of its Android app to the public, but it looks like in addition to all their other aspirations as of late, they've created a dedicated beta channel for the Android app. Adventurous users can download the latest Dropbox beta from the forums, then check the settings section of the app for the "early releases" option to get future updates. Non-Play Store downloads will have this option enabled by default.

As for what's new in this release, the standard UI tweaks and bug fixes are present, along with the ability to share or delete multiple photos at once.

Earlier this month, Samsung started pushing Android 4.1.2 to its test bed in Poland. It seems that all must've gone well during the short, two-week trial, as it has now started pushing the update to a variety of different locales, including the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Colombia, Romania, and more.

Not only does the update bring 4.1.2 and all its goodies, but also Samsung's Premium Suite, which features a number of useful enhancements, like Multi-Window, page buddy, an improved Gallery app, customizable notification panel, smart rotation, the paper artist app, and more.

This one's showing up in phases, so if it's not available on your device – either via OTA or Kies – sit tight, it'll be there soon.

You can watch live NFL games on any carrier you want, so long as you want to watch it on Verizon. The exclusive deal between the league and Verizon wouldn't be so frustrating if they'd update the app more often, but it looks like they've finally added tablet support for the various XOOM and Galaxy Tab models in their lineup. In case you're wondering, no, this won't work if you tether your tablet to a Verizon smartphone.

Other features include an updated streaming schedule for the postseason, the 2013 Pro Bowl, and the Super Bowl. You'll still need an NFL Mobile Premium subscription for live video and other features, and your local games might still be blacked out.
