It was only a couple days ago that we heard the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Motorola Xyboard Wi-Fi models would be rolling out. Now, Verizon has announced that the same update for the LTE version of the tablet is about to rollout to customers via an OTA upgrade. The package will be about 336.4 MB, so hope you're on Wi-Fi.
Here are some of the changes you'll see with the upgrade:
Direct Access Lock Screen - The direct access lock screen takes you directly to Camera, Browser, Gallery or Unlock.
Several weeks ago, avast! released a beta version of its mobile security and anti-theft apps (the latter of which used to be Theft Aware) that brought with it a slew of new features, as well as an all-new web portal. Those new features have now left the beta stages and the final release of version 2 is available in the Play Store.
This is a pretty major overhaul for what I believe was already among the best anti-theft/anti-virus solutions for Android. Read More

Yesterday, ASUS North America teased some Jelly Bean goodies on its Facebook page. At the time, we had no idea they would begin pushing a Jelly Bean update less than 12 hour later. But they have.
Announced on its Facebook this morning, ASUS has started pushing the Jelly Bean update (Android 4.1.1) to the Transformer Pad 300, making it the first 10" ASUS tablet to receive the update. The TF300 getting updated to Jelly Bean isn't much of a shocker, but the fact hat ASUS was able to perform such a quick turnaround and get the update out is nothing short of impressive. Read More
Google is currently pushing out a quick follow-up update (v3.8.17) to the new Play Store (v3.8.15) that rolled out a couple of days ago. 3.8.15 brought significant under-the-hood changes, such as support for gift card redemption and wishlists, but 3.8.17 seems to be just a minor bug fixer. I have absolutely no clue right now what problems it resolves, and decoding the apk to compare with the previous version didn't really shine a light in any helpful way. Read More

How often do you hear this? Sony has started to roll out Ice Cream Sandwich to the Xperia P ahead of schedule, beating its own date of August 19th.
According to a post on the Sony Mobile blog, the upgrade process is beginning today and continuing globally "over the next few weeks", so if you're an Xperia P owner, keep an eye out for any upgrade notifications on your phone. When ICS is ready for your device, you will be alerted, but Sony says that some users may have to use their PC Companion software to perform the update. Read More
Google Maps received an update yesterday, making it a lot more friendly for users who rely on public transport to get from A to B by adding departure times for railway stations, among other new features.
Unfortunately, the new update is causing a few issues for HTC Rezound owners, who have found that the app causes their phone to reboot itself after using it for a few seconds. Users on forums such as XDA, The Milk Milk and AndroidCentral have all been complaining about the issue, so it looks to be pretty widespread. Read More
