[I thought it was 2017?] BLU updates its Life One X to Android 6.0 Marshmallow

In a surprising (and overlooked) turn of events, a couple weeks ago hardware-maker BLU updated its Life One X away from Lollipop. Unfortunately for users, although it is nice for a 2015 $99 entry-level device to see new software, it's only been taken as far as Android 6.0 Marshmallow. That's right, it's mid-2017, and BLU is only now updating a phone that came out in 2015 to an operating system from 2015.

[Update: July 11th for the ZW3, later for ZW2] Android Wear 2.0 delayed again for the ZenWatch 2 & 3, release date unknown

When Google listed all of the watches that would receive Android 2.0, I was surprised. I only expected a handful of wearables to make the jump, but nearly all of them (besides the earliest models) were marked as compatible. Unfortunately, it's taking a while to deliver on that promise; fast forward five months later, and a few models are still waiting on an update.

ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 (Z500M) gets Android 7.0 Nougat OTA

When Corbin reviewed the ASUS ZenPad 3S 10 — whoa, that's a mouthful — at the end of 2016, he called it the iPad Air running Android. The display and speed impressed him, but one of his major complaints was the software: both the added ASUS customizations and the fact that it ran Marshmallow gave him pause before recommending it. At the time, ASUS said that Nougat would come to the tablet, but wasn't sure when.

Well, it's now 6 months later and the ZenPad 3S 10 is finally getting Android 7.0 Nougat. Not 7.1 mind you, but it's Nougat nonetheless.

Google Play Store v8 brings in-line changelogs to the update screen [APK Download]

It would appear that there is an update rolling out for the Google Play Store, bringing things up to v8. We aren't sure about all the new features in this version yet, but there is at least one significant change. Now you can view changelogs for app updates directly from the update overview screen. So instead of having to go into each individual app to see what might be new, now it's just a single tap on an arrow to expand the item and read the details.

Google News desktop site gets a Material redesign, with new Story Cards and more customization options

The Google News & Weather app for Android has been updated semi-regularly since it was re-branded in 2014. But during that time, the desktop site remained mostly unchanged. Today Google took the wraps off a brand new Google News site, which not only has a fresh coat of Material Design, but also adds some major new functionality.

2016 AT&T LG K10 updated to Android 7.0 Nougat

Another day, another phone to get Android 7.0 Nougat. This time it's the 2016 AT&T LG K10's turn. This particular phone has been a bit ignored by AT&T. Their support page shows this is only the 2nd update the device has ever received. At least the jump to Nougat includes the April 1st security patches, so it should be reasonably secure for some time if AT&T doesn't keep it up to date.

Twitter 7.0 is official with a new rounded UI, live reply/retweet/reply counters, and more

Back in May, the Alpha Twitter app received an updated interface that looked more rounded, with new icons and buttons in tow. Then it reached the Beta branch, with a few more changes. Despite Twitter 7.0 going live a few days ago, the UI changes were part of a server-side update that is rolling out to all users starting today.

What ever happened to Google's dual-tab "Feed and Upcoming" update?

Last year Google announced an update to the Google app that would bring an additional tab to Google Now. The new interface was meant to separate general items in your feed from more personal data, by partitioning the latter into a new "Upcoming" section. Well, it's been six months since it was announced, and it seems as if almost no one has the feature.
