Motorola Droid Bionic Receiving Minor OTA Update To Build 5.9.905, Improves LTE Connectivity And Bluetooth Sound Quality

Verizon just started pushing a small OTA update to the Droid Bionic that brings a few small enhancements to the device:

  • Recalibrated volume of the call connect and disconnect tones to be more comfortable for Bluetooth® users.
  • Improved Visual Voice Mail to ensure delivery of a notification to the Status bar.
  • Reduced data stalls to improve 4G LTE data connectivity

While it's not ICS, hopefully it will fix the LTE issues that users have been experiencing for quite some time.

Aviary Hatches A New Update: No Longer Just A Plugin, This Photo Editor Can Now Fly Solo

The last time we covered Aviary, the powerful mobile photo editor was limited to being launched as a plugin inside the stock gallery app. Now, Aviary the company has booted Aviary the photo editor from the nest, launching it as a standalone app. Users everywhere rejoice, as they can now find Aviary after installing it.

Small OTA Update (Build 9.4.2.28) Now Rolling Out To The ASUS Transformer Prime, Brings Face Unlock, Bluetooth HDP, And More

ASUS just started pushing a nice little update to the Transformer Prime that brings a number of enhancements to the device:

  • GPS dongle fix & local notification
  • Ethernet UI support to set Ethernet connect policy when screen off
  • Add system bar lock settings for showing/hiding system info
  • Enable Face Unlock feature
  • Support Bluetooth HDP
  • Third party app upgrade
  • Other bug fixes

Hopefully, this update will also bring the performance boost that the Transformer Pad 300 received with its most recent OTA, but we'll have to see.

PSA: T-Mobile Will Begin Rolling Out Android 4.0.3 To The Galaxy S II Tonight At 11PM EST Via Kies

We already knew that today was the big day for T-Mobile's Galaxy S II to receive Ice Cream Sandwich. T-Mobile has just let on that the rollout will begin tonight at 11pm EST. The update will be done via Kies, so unfortunately the update won't be showing up over the air. Hope you've got a microUSB cable handy.

The update is just slightly behind the 4.0.4 that other devices have been receiving, but users probably won't be complaining too much.

Nova Launcher Updated To Version 1.2, Adds 'Color Themes', Widget Overlapping, Icon Themes, And More

If you're fortunate enough to have Ice Cream Sandwich on your smartphone (either officially or unofficially), then you already know that the stock launcher is a huge improvement over previous versions of Android. However, it's not perfect.

Enter my personal favorite third-party launcher for ICS devices: Nova. This isn't the first time that we've mentioned Nova Launcher on AP, but it just received an update that definitely brings some note-worthy enhancements to an already-great application.

SoundHound Version 5.0 Hits The Play Store, Brings All New Interface, Quicker Music Recognition, And "Song Stream"

Version 5 of the popular music-identifying app SoundHound just hit the Play Store, bringing a handful of enhancements and improvements to the app.

The first thing you'll notice is the new interface, which features a new homescreen with a "carousel of content" where you'll find top songs, most shared songs, and most tweeted songs. Also in the carousel is a new "song stream" feature where you can hear new singles from various artists directly within the SoundHound App.

Completely Overhauled HD Widgets Version 3.0 Hits The Play Store, Goes On $0.99 Sale For 48 Hours To Celebrate

Version 3.0 of HD Widgets landed in the Play Store this morning, bringing a completely overhauled interface, all new widgets, and far more customizations that ever before along with it. I've been playing with the release candidate for the last couple of days (though I've been using HD Widgets for quite a while), and I have to say: this is the best version of HD Widgets yet.

Google Announces Google Maps Offline Out Of Labs With Improved Interface, Coming Soon

Google has just announced at today's Maps events that Google Maps offline download feature, previously a "labs" option inside the Google Maps for Android app, is going official. According to the Google, the feature is "coming soon." Unfortunately, there was no word on support for offline navigation.

From what we can tell, the interface has been improved and it is now much easier to make an offline area selection than it was in the Labs version of the feature.

Sony And Logitech Google TV Devices Receiving Updates Right Now To v.2.1.1 And Honeycomb 3.2 Respectively

Google TV is one of those products that Google tends to forget about most of the year. Today, though, the platform is getting some love as Sony Google TV devices are getting a firmware update to version 2.1.1. Included in the update will be the ability play movies rented via Google Play (about time) as well as watching movies via youtube.com/movies.

Logitech's update, on the other hand, is less straightforward.
