LG Optimus 2X Might Not Receive An Upgrade To ICS After All, Says LG Canada

Way back in November, LG took to Facebook to announce that its high-end handsets would be receiving an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich. Of course, that was eight months ago. A lot can change in that time. Now, LG Canada's twitter account is saying that the Optimus 2X will not be upgraded, and that LG's previous comment on the subject was a "general statement issued from HQ."

Of course, it's a little hard to understand how "the LG Optimus 2X will receive an upgrade to ICS" could be interpreted as a "general statement".

Thumb Keyboard Gets Updated To Version 4.5 Bringing Continuous Voice Recognition, One-Handed Keyboard, And More

Thumb Keyboard, one of the most intuitive, well-designed, and practical keyboards available (especially for tablet users) got a big update recently, bringing the app up to version 4.5.

Perhaps the biggest benefit to the new update is that Thumb Keyboard now supports ICS' continuous voice recognition, which in case you've forgotten, is the feature introduced with Ice Cream Sandwich that actively listens and dictates your speech. This is a feature I haven't seen in other alternative keyboards, and it's definitely nice to have.

Lenovo Washes Its Hands Of The Ideapad K1, Offers Vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich Update For Your Flashing Pleasure

So here's a novel idea: when a device reaches its end of life, manufacturers should provide users with a way to keep the flame burning. In a nutshell, that's what Lenovo has done with the Ideapad K1.

Here's the gist: the company is finished with this device. They no longer sell it, and it's clear that, past the most recent update (Android 3.2), they no longer plan to support it. Despite its attempts to help users understand the reasoning behind the decision to make the game free, Madfinger has been under constant attack from players who wanted to something to compensate the [measly] dollar that they spent on the game in its initial weeks on the market.
