[Update: Rolling Out] Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Update LP11 Arriving With ICS Soon

The support docs for Verizon's variant of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 have just been updated with details of a new OTA LP11 that will bring Ice Cream Sandwich. The update for the Wi-Fi version started rolling out in the US several weeks ago, and T-Mo started pushing the update through Kies to its variant earlier this month.

It's nice to see Verizon make right in a somewhat timely manner, as this update brings some really nice features to the device, and the addition of ICS makes it feel like an entirely new tablet.

While we still wait for newer products like Play Movies or Play Books to reach a wider audience, Google's been hard at work bringing a slightly more useful product to additional countries: Google Maps with Navigation. After bringing voice navigation to India, nine more new countries are being added to the supported list for the Navigation beta. Including the following:

  • Saudi Arabia
  • Qatar
  • Kuwait
  • Lebanon

Unfortunately, the service will require Android 4.0 or higher.

TeamViewer For Remote Control Update Brings That All-Important Feature, File Transfer Between Desktop And Mobile

While it's become commonplace in more civilized parts of the internet for your data to just appear on whatever device you're using (I haven't had to manually move contacts since 2008, for example), sometimes things get left behind. If you've ever felt the sting of realizing that one important file is stranded on your desktop, TeamViewer is here with a healing balm for you: file transfer.

Chameleon Beta Updated To Version 0.9.0 - The Widget API Is Here!

Since the Chameleon beta first became available, the most requested feature has been for more widgets. The initial build only offered a handful of choices, and while they were all useful, they didn't showcase the launcher's usefulness. More recently, the team updated the application to offer even more widgets, adding a bit more value to the launcher.

Now, however, the launcher has received what I think is its biggest and most important update thus far: the launcher just hit version 0.9.0, which brings the first version of the widget API.

Chrome For Android Updated To Version 18.1, Brings Bug Fixes, Improved YouTube Controls, And More Support For Third-Party Keyboards

Google just pushed a small update to its Chrome browser that brings a handful of tweaks and fixes, as well as a couple of enhancements:

  • Location preference now integrated to system level Google apps location setting.
  • Youtube videos controls now work in full screen mode; videos continue playing after a screen lock/unlock
  • Fixes to make third-party IMEs work better with Chrome

It's all pretty much straightforward, but you may be wondering what an IME is.

Sprint Nexus S 4G Is Even More Officially Getting Jelly Bean Now, According To Documents In Sprint Forums

There may have been a bit of a false start recently, when a Sprint employee took to the community forums to announce that the rollout of Jelly Bean for the Nexus S had begun. Maybe the rep confused the Nexus S for the Galaxy Nexus, as we hadn't heard any reports that users had received the OTA for the older of the two Nexii. Today, though, Sprint has posted in its forums details on the upgrade, including a release date of today, September 11th.

CyanogenMod Announces New Monthly M-Series Releases, Begins By Offering Up CM10 M1 For Select Devices

Tonight, when everyone else is sleeping, the folks over at CyanogenMod are hard at work, as always. The team just announced a brand new addition to the slew of CM releases: M-Series. From now on (provided the community approves), the team will begin rolling out builds that are "a bit more stable" at the beginning of every month. Prior to this initial release of CM10-M1, the group did a "soft freeze of the codebase" in an attempt to stabilize the builds, so these should be more reliable than your average release.

[Update] Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 Android Media Player/Set-Top Box ICS Update Available For Download

About a week ago, I reviewed the Diamond Multimedia AMP1000 set-top box. Throughout the review, my one major complaint with the device was that the Android 2.3 interface is nothing short of terrible on a large display. The ray of shining light through it all, though, was the fact that Diamond promised an Android 4.0 update was coming soon.

I have to be honest here: I expected it to be weeks - or even months - before the ICS update was ready to go.

Google Drive Update For Android Brings Improved Presentation Viewing, Basic Table Support In Docs, And More

Before I get your hopes up, no they haven't improved spreadsheets yet. However, that is on the way. What is arriving now, though, is the ability to add comments to your documents, view tables, and improved Google presentations viewing support. You'll even get speaker notes and the ability to swipe between slides.

There are more features on their way. Here at Android Police HQ, we've been eagerly awaiting proper spreadsheet editing (which is currently horrible to an unusable degree), and Google has seen fit to name check that very feature in its "More to come..." section.
