You may remember that the A100 also saw an early update to ICS, with rollout beginning three days ahead of schedule.

Facebook for Android has been making some progress lately - just a few short days ago, version 1.9 of the app was made available, bringing some fairly major improvements. Now the app has been updated again, and while it's far from a full makeover, it has received one change that some users will surely appreciate.

Namely, the update includes revised icons for the bundled "Camera" and "Messenger" applications. While in all likelihood most of us will hardly even notice the change, it may still prove beneficial in the long term, as the "Camera" and "Messenger" icons included in the original version of Facebook 1.9 looked quite similar to Android's stock "Camera" and "Messenger" applications; the update makes them easier to tell apart.

Minecraft, the wildly popular online creativity toy, has also had a pocket version of itself in development for a while. Up until now, though, you could only really mine. As of today, though, Mojang, the company behind the game, has released version 0.3.0 that finally includes (and you may want to sit down for this one) crafting!

Up until this point, you've been able to scavenge around for materials, but if you wanted to do anything with them, you're stuck.

Prepare to mash the System Update button, A100 owners: the promised update to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich, or ICS) has apparently been rolling out since yesterday. Word came to us last night from Canadian reader Graham, who provided a handy-dandy picture as proof:

An XDA thread confirms Graham's update wasn't a fluke, with users all around the world receiving the update. So far the thread is 10 pages long but contains little by way of comments on the user experience after the update, but it does look like the ICS update is preceeded by a smaller 17MB update.

Update 4/23/12: This update is now rolling out OTA (thanks, Kristopher and others).

It's been a bit of a disappointing ride for the Droid RAZR and its beefier brother over the last few weeks - first, we were told that the ICS update was to start rolling out on April 4th, but that didn't happen. Instead, Moto was going to start a soak test of a new enhancement build, but...

Lg-g2x-1

A few days ago, LG made available the V21y update for owners of the G2x. Users were delighted - though the update wasn't major, it did seem to bring some notable additions, according to this unofficial changelog:

  • Update to Android 2.3.4
  • Built-in Google Plus capabilities
  • Swype 3.26.92
  • New RIL and baseband (dated March 11, 2012)
  • Improved battery life

However, the update was pulled shortly after, though those who'd managed to grab it found it quite stable.

Owners of the unlocked GSM Galaxy Nexus (yakju) are waking up to an OTA update notification this morning that is said to fix the signal loss issues which came along with build IMM76D. Since this new build (IMM76I) doesn't bump the Android version, kernel, or radios at all, however, we're not sure if the update makes any other changes (though it's unlikely).

Samsung-Galaxy-S2

Here's a bit of good news for all of you who have an unlocked (global) Samsung Galaxy S II here in the U.S.: Ice Cream Sandwich is being pushed to your device right now. This makes the global GSII the first of the GSII family to officially get Ice Cream Sandwich in the U.S., as none of the three American carriers that offer the phone have begun sending the update yet.
