More Twitter Beta App Tweaks: Consolidated Tweet Buttons And A Lot Of Crashing

Twitter has been steadily tweaking their beta release channel for the Android app, and the latest update removes one of the most poorly-received features from the last beta version. The translucent tri-button array at the bottom of the screen (post a photo from storage, take a photo, or a simple textual tweet) has been removed, and is now replaced with a single, consolidated button.

New on the left, old on the right. Pardon the different resolutions.

That button will also become semi-hidden when you scroll through your Twitter feed, giving you that much more room to see your tweets. Nice.

Twitter For Android Updated To v3.8, Brings Smoother Refresh Animation, Richer Search Results, More Detailed Conversation View

Update: Twitter has removed the new detailed conversation view from the list of changes. We're not sure if that's because it's not there, or some other reason.

Twitter for Android was updated this afternoon with a few tweaks, bringing the app to version 3.8. Among the most notable changes is an enhanced conversation view, which now shows all replies (and related interactions) to a Tweet, whether going forward or backward in time.

Twitter says the search function of the app has also been updated, and certain terms will return 'Top Tweets from big moments in the past' that will pop out from normal results, though I wasn't able to see any such tweets myself (it's likely rolling out slowly).

Twitter For Android Updated To v3.7, Adds New Search Experience, 'Mentions Only' Setting For Connect Tab, And More

Twitter for Android received its first update in almost two months today, though it's a rather focused one: the 'search' experience has been substantially revamped. Now, instead of merely getting people and tweets results tabs, you get a mixed feed of results that can be refreshed by pulling down.

The results, as far as I can tell, are organized in three ways: tweets, people, and top tweets. If there are any Top Tweets for a particular search term, you'll see those tweets on top of the general tweet results. Above those will be the people results. Pulling down from the top of the results page will give you the newest tweets matching your search, up to about the last 15 seconds.

Twitter For Android Updated To Version 3.3 - New Push Notification Options, Expanded Tweet Support, And More

Twitter for Android had been updated to version 3.3, adding support for Twitter's new "expanded tweet" feature, as well as account-specific push notifications. You can now select any account you're following, and using the drop down menu, choose to receive push notifications whenever that account makes a new tweet. Pretty awesome stuff.

Auto-complete for user searches has become smarter as well, and you can now tap on the avatar of any account from a tweet to go directly to the user page. I've been waiting for that for a while. Oh, and the app now has Twitter's new sideways-Twitter-bird logo.
