Best Google TVs in 2024

Stream and cast to your heart's content with these amazing Google TVs

Smart TVs are everywhere these days. Brands like Samsung and LG are powered by proprietary platforms like Tizen and webOS for all things streaming and are user-interface driven, with Fire TV and Roku TV being top choices for TV companies like Amazon, TCL, and Hisense. But when it comes to movie and TV show recommendations, no OS achieves the same level of algorithmic wonder as Google TV.

$648 off Samsung’s artistic Frame is the TV deal to grab this Prime Day

And you get free bezels with the TV as well — no, really

Samsung makes a lot of high-end 4K TVs that make the best of your favorite streaming device, but it's The Frame lineup stands out with its upmarket looks, complete with a boxy, no-gap design that gives your living room a luxurious facelift. These frame-style TVs don’t come cheap typically, but the company has slashed a full $648 off the 55-inch model’s usual price for this October Prime Day sale, making it quite a tempting buy at just under $1,000. Samsung is also throwing in a set of bezels, further elevating how the TV looks and blends in with the room’s decor.

Do you love tinkering with your home theater to get everything as streamlined as possible? Or maybe you're tired of juggling devices and remote controls to various boxes and streaming dongles, especially when you switch from playing games to watching the news or changing channels vs. turning up the volume.

Away from its phones, TCL might have suffered some stumbles on its TV side with its first Google TV last year, but at CES 2022, it's going big — literally — with two super-size star panels in its new XL Collection (otherwise known as the over-80" club).

Best Buy halts sales of TCL Google TVs

Reports of bugs and slowness may be contributing factors

Best Buy, the exclusive retailer of TCL's new 5- and 6-Series Google TVs since their reveal this summer, has suddenly pulled the panels from sale online. The unexplained decision comes after complaints and reviews criticizing slow performance and frequent app crashes.

Sony's premium 65" 4K HDR Android TV is on clearance at Best Buy for $1,620 ($180 off)

Looks super for a price you can't complain about

If you're looking for a flagship-tier TV for your lengthening chain of movie marathons, but can't afford the giant step up to OLED, you have a chance to get pretty darn close with a clearance deal on Sony's 65" Z9F 4K HDR set at Best Buy.

With Amazon and Best Buy already offering many of their holiday discounts, the race to be the first to offer Black Friday sales seems to be one in which Target is not participating. This has not stopped them from offering a huge number of discounts on popular electronics, though. To help you sort through the deals, we've compiled a list of the best discounts you can expect. The deals begin becoming active for Target RedCard cardholders first at 12:01 AM PT on November 27th. If you are a part of Target's Circle reward program, you can expect the deals to become active a few hours later, at 4:00 PM.

Pre-Black Friday sales continue to trickle out a full week ahead of the day itself, and Samsung is the latest to publish its own preview for upcoming discounts. The variety covers everything from wearables to TVs and even smart home gadgets(and we're happy to tell you about them, too), but the promotions that have us most excited are for the company's latest Note and Galaxy-series phones. Starting on the 18th you can get a Note 9 for $800 unlocked, and a Galaxy S9 and S9+ for $520 and $640, respectively.

Prime Day is in full swing, but it can be hard to keep track of all the different sales happening. Even a few third-party retailers seem to be trying to divert a bit of that attention to themselves with their own promotions. To make things a bit easier for our readers, we're keeping track of all the stuff that we spot together in one place, right here.American Express cardholders should also be aware of this promotion, which can be combined with some of the discounted merchandise below for an extra 20% off, up to a $100 discount.[EMBED_YT]https://youtu.be/RpWuLlDrFio[/EMBED_YT]Like always, we do our best to make a comparison to real prices, rather than just the ridiculously inflated advertised discount or MSRP, so this list (ideally) shouldn't have anything on it that was marked up only to be discounted. We're comparing things to real-world historical numbers. It's a lot more work for us (read: me), but it's better for you.

Hisense announced some new TVs back at CES in January, but we haven't heard a peep since then. Today, the H9 Plus Series 4K TVs are available for purchase. Why is this relevant? These TVs have Android TV and Assistant built-in.

Sony's been busy with announcements so far at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, debuting new headphones and speakers, an Android Auto audio system, and some new phones (trademark bezels still intact). There are surely many more new Sony things being launched at the show, but not all of them are relevant to us here. New Android TV sets with the Google Assistant built in? Yep, that's relevant enough.[EMBED_YT]https://youtu.be/GajehPK4xPc[/EMBED_YT]Two new premium models have been unveiled by Sony, with display technology being the major difference between them. The A8F Series features a Bravia OLED panel (65" or 55") with Acoustic Surface tech, which means "the entire screen resonates with sound." Its X1 Extreme processor also offers 4K HDR picture quality and Dolby Vision is on board too. Those features together with the great blacks, colors, and viewing angles of the OLED display should make for one hell of a TV, complemented by its clean, minimal design.Just in case that wasn't enough, Sony also wants to show off the new X900F Series, which goes all the way up to a massive 85" in size, with other options at 75", 65", 55", and 49". These are LED panels, but they also have the X1 Extreme processor to handle 4K HDR content. X-Motion Clarity reduces the blur that can blight large TVs during fast-paced action, and X-tended Dynamic Range PRO enhances even non-HDR content with clever backlighting. The X900F range also includes Dolby Vision and has been designed to complement Sony's new Dolby Atmos soundbar, the HT-X9000F, to give you the ultimate cinematic viewing experience at home. All of Sony's recent 4K HDR TVs were updated to support the Google Assistant a couple of months ago, and these new entries come with it out of the box. All you have to do is push the microphone button on the remote and you can command the Assistant to search for video content, play music, control other smart home devices, and much more. You can also control these Sony TVs with your Google Home or Amazon Alexa device. Pricing and availability are yet to be announced, but you can bet they'll cost a pretty penny (or several). Amazon and Best Buy will be among the stockists when the new models are released.

Believe it or not, Polaroid does still exist. The company is no longer the entity it once was, living on now as a shell to license the brand and forge hardware partnerships. Still, Polaroid has something new at CES you might find interesting; a new line of 4K TVs with Google Chromecast built-in. They start at just $499.

You can pair an Android TV box with any TV to get Google smarts in your set, but there are also a few TVs with Android TV built-in. They're usually a bit more expensive than similar TVs, but that's not the case for RCA's new Android TV 4K sets. They come in 50, 55, and 65-inch varieties, and the smallest one starts at just $499.

Sure, you can go buy a Nexus Player for $50-100 if you want to experience Android TV, but if you need a new set anyway, Sony has a few nice 4K TVs with Google's software already included. They're usually rather expensive models, but one of them is on sale via eBay Daily Deals right now for $850.The Sony XBR-55X810C is a 55-inch LCD TV that usually sells for $1200-1400 on sites like Amazon and Crutchfield. This is a 4K (UHD) TV, so you'll be able to watch what limited 4K content there is on it. Connectors include a component out, two composites, digital audio, ethernet, and four HDMI ports. The HDMIs also support HDCP 2.2, which is required for some 4K video content. There's also WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.This is a new product, not a refurb or open box. Even if you don't need Android TV, this is a solid deal on a good 4K TV. This deal includes free shipping, but it's US only. Tax is only paid in New Jersey. Note, you need to log into eBay before it'll show you the price, but we've confirmed.Source: eBay

You can buy 4K TVs for an almost reasonable price these days, but that's not true for Sony's new 4K TVs. These sets run Android TV and are razor thin at just 0.2-inches. However, they start at $2500 for a 55-inch set. They are now listed on Amazon and Best Buy, with pre-orders live on the former.

Google's lone Android TV box is getting some company, but not in the form of a more capable over-the-top box. Sharp has announced three new 4K TV series at CES 2015, and two of them have Android TV built-in. It'll cost you, though.
