TripIt v5.0 update adds unnecessary bottom nav bar, timeline-based itinerary, and more

TripIt is one of those apps that has been on Android for ages and has struggled to look not terrible pretty much the whole time. It's not going to make your eyes bleed these days, but the latest update does still have some questionable UI decisions. For example, that bottom navigation bar that is so clearly ripped right from the iOS app.

TripIt Adds A Traveler Profile In Its Latest Update To Keep Your Valuable Documents And Contacts Handy When You're Away

Whether you travel for leisure or business, the logistics of crossing country or state borders are a nightmare. TripIt has been trying to simplify the process for years, providing travelers with a way to track their flight, hotel reservation, car rental, and other plans in one central place. The app just got better now thanks to a new addition: Traveler Profile.

The profile lives inside TripIt's side menu in the Android (and iOS) app. It houses both travel documents and travel contacts, acting as a hub for everything you might need while on the go. Your passport, driver license, resident cards, as well as your babysitter's number, doctor, and others can be easily added.

TripIt Updated To Version 3.6 With Offline Editing, Enhanced Point Tracker, And More

The TripIt travel itinerary app has received an update that makes it significantly more useful during bouts of intermittent Internet connectivity. Version 3.6 brings in the ability to make edits while offline. The app will then sync changes automatically once you reconnect.

This feature tops the change log, but it's not what TripIt highlighted when I fired up the app. No, that was the new Enhanced Point Tracker feature that will notify you whenever your rewards points are about to expire. Can't have that happen, now can we?

This release also slips in the power to add or remove travelers, viewers, and planners on trips.

TripIt Travel Organizer Gets A New Phone User Interface And Gingerbread Support In Version 3.5

For anyone who likes a nice structured itinerary for their weekend Vegas bender, TripIt is a handy app that combines flight, public transit, hotel, and restaurant info in to a tight little scheduling interface. And to make said interface even more tight, TripIt has revised the UI in the latest build. Well, at least some of the UI - from what we can tell, you'll only see the spiffy new blue-tinted screens if you're using a phone. Tablets default to the older UI, which admittedly seems to make a better use of the larger screen.

WorldMate Releases App For Android - Keeping Up With Your Travel Itinerary Just Got A Whole Lot Easier

WorldMate is a company that was created to make travel easier - easier to track, easier to book, and easier to keep up with from the moment you receive that itinerary confirmation email. WorldMate already has apps out for Blackberry, iOS, Symbian, and WinMo, and today it is finally filling in the glaring omission by announcing the official Android app.

Features

The most useful feature, to me and thousands of users of this free service, is the ability to forward those itinerary confirmation emails from any of the popular booking sites to [email protected] and have them automatically converted into a new travel itinerary, broken down into individual travel items.
