The Asus Transformer Pad TF701T has hit a new low, but it this case, that's a good thing. Shoppers can now find this 10-inch tablet on Amazon marked down to a very reasonable $279.99. It will still set buyers back $534.99 to get this thing with the dock included, but that has always been an optional add-on (Update: much cheaper - about $415 - if you buy the dock separately).

When Asus announces stuff, it really announces stuff. That weird Turducken Transformer thing from earlier is far from the only thing the Tiawanese OEM has revealed at Computex. There are also new Transformer Pads, MeMO Pads, and an updated line of Fonepads – you get one guess what they do.

Update: The US update just hit our unit in the wee hours of the morning, right on time. It's 273.17MB and takes about 10 minutes to install if you've got the mobile dock (less if you don't). You should be able to get the update by hitting up the system OTA menu. Remember, the full images for the Taiwanese and worldwide SKUs were posted a few days ago, so you can go that route if you want.

We heard yesterday that the newest Transformer Pad was slated to get its Android 4.3 update on November 18th, but it looks like the bits are dropping a little early. Android 4.3 for the TF701T has been posted on the Asus support site, and you can download it right now.

It's been over four months since Google officially announced Android 4.2 and slightly less time since the initial round of new Nexus devices running it went up for order. Much like the gunshot that kicks off the 100-meter tortoise race, that launch signaled the silent contest to see which manufacturer could get out a non-Nexus update first. Today, we have our winner: ASUS, with a shiny new version of Jelly Bean for the Transformer Pad (TF300T).

Another day, another round of nightly builds for the upcoming CyanogenMod 10.1. This time, the latest release of the custom ROM that brings Android 4.2 has been made available on a further 3 devices: the Google Nexus S, Nexus S 4G, and the ASUS Transformer Pad 300 (TF300T).

Definition: A "nightly" is a bleeding edge release that is built on a daily basis, usually at night after a full day's worth of new code has been committed.

One of the most appealing aspects of owning a tablet from ASUS' Transformer line is the optional keyboard dock. It turns the tablet into an Android-powered netbook of sorts, making note taking, replying to emails, and other general productivity-based things much easier. The included battery also boosts usable time by up to four+ hours on most models, making the dock even more useful.

The main problem with the keyboard accessory, however, is the price tag; after spending $400+ on a new tablet, many users don't want to shell out the extra $150 to add the dock.

While at the Google booth earlier today, ASUS was kind enough to let us take a look at the upcoming Transformer Pad Infinity (basically, a beefed up TF Prime), albeit a version we had not yet seen.

The TF700KG is likely going to be a Europe-only device (unless it were to be picked up by a major carrier here in the US), as it has a 4G LTE SIM slot on it, and runs on a Qualcomm S4 MSM8960 dual-core processor.
