DGLES

Update: To the developer's surprise, Google has returned D-GLES to the Play Store. People who bought it in the past no longer need to send emails requesting updates, and those who have purchased the Amazon version will continue to get new releases going forward. The latest one adds support for Amazon Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick.

Doom took the gaming world by storm in the early 90s, so when developer id Software open sourced the game's code later in the decade, fans of the groundbreaking first-person shooter rushed to port the title to whichever platforms they wished.

One of the more inflammatory stories in the world of gaming over the last few months has been the rise of casual game publisher King and its emphatic defense of its "Candy Crush Saga" intellectual property. After applying for trademarks on the terms "Candy" and "Saga" for video game and clothing applications, King opposed the trademark application of the PC Viking-themed RPG The Banner Saga.

Both of these games include "Saga" in the title.

As Android Police's unofficial person who knows things about laws (as always, none of this is legal advice), sometimes I see law stuff going on in the tech world that just makes me mad. This is one of those times. Appigo, an iOS and OS X developer, filed for a trademark on the word "Todo" (see it here) under the scope of a software application (basically).

Yesterday, we received an email from a developer of an app for Android called Star Trek ToDo Agenda.

htc-vivid

Maybe you've heard of a new AT&T LTE handset from HTC called the Vivid. Maybe you haven't. Either way, HTC has gotten itself in a bit of hot water using such a risqué name on the blazing fast beast. By whom, you ask? Why, adult entertainment company Vivid Entertainment, of course.

Vivid is threatening HTC with a possible trademark infringement suit if the name of the device isn't changed.
