When we first took a look at Zombies, Run! a few days ago, I said that, while the concept is great, I hoped it would be $8 worth of amazing. Not to spoil the ending to this story right away, but the short version is: probably. This app could easily be worth $8 to many users. But not for the reasons you might think. And, before you start reaching for your wallet, you need to answer one very important question: are you willing to commit to a workout routine?

To call Zombies, Run! a "game" is, perhaps, a bit disingenuous.

Since the invention of the smartphone, the number one concern on everyone's mind is "How can I use this to help prepare for the zombie apocalypse?" And if that's not your number one concern, it should be. Zombies, Run! is a game designed to augment your current running routine with a story and extra, *ahem*, motivation. Of the keeping-your-brains variety.

The game actually started as a Kickstarter project (but what doesn't these days?) and was released on iOS a few months ago. The game is fairly straightforward. Plug in your headphones before you go running, and hit play. The audio creates an environment and a narrative that engulfs you in a post-apocalyptic world.

Foursquare's mobile app hit the big five-point-oh today, with a brand new overhaul that's so comprehensive, the What's New section on the Play Store gave up and said "Go check it out for yourself!" The app has gotten a whole new ICS-styled look, which just looks fantastic. In addition, the app has revamped the "Explore" tab that allows you to see what's around you, encouraging more discovery, instead of mindlessly checking in whenever you happen to go to Starbucks.

Foursquare is clearly looking to engage users more with the update, as the maps section shows. You can now see your friends' locations overlaid on a map that also highlights points of interest in your area.

Motorola's MOTOACTV smartwatch, which the manufacturer bills as the "world's first GPS fitness tracker with smart mp3 player, all in one," began receiving a software update yesterday, bringing the device's standard model up to version 1.7.3, while its golf-oriented counterpart ascended to version 1.7.2.

Software version 1.7.3 includes a handful of improvements, including more flexible workout planning, the ability to create dedicated heart rate zones for different activities, Facebook and Twitter viewing capabilities, easier Wi-Fi setup, and more.

The golf-centered MOTOACTV's update is largely the same, but includes (surprise) added golf functionality:

To improve game tracking, we added tee location options, more choices for ball lie marking and the ability to track the distance of your putts.

Summer movie season is starting. With the Hunger Games already breaking box office records and nerds everywhere polishing their shields and repulsorlift glove replicas in anticipation of The Avengers, this year is set to be a big one. AMC has appropriately launched their official app to help you keep track of all the movies you're geeking out to see this year.

The app does a lot of the same things that more general movie apps like IMDb and Flixster already do well, like finding movie listings and trailers. The AMC app, however, also allows users to keep track of their Stubs account and rewards.

Looking to make online shopping just a little more organized and manageable, Slice came to Google's Play Store today. The app promises to be "the simplest way to track and organize your purchases," and seems to deliver on that promise, efficiently and effectively finding, organizing, and storing receipts and tracking info on your Android device.

Slice automatically works with your Gmail or Yahoo Mail account, scanning for purchase receipts and tracking info, and organizes everything into a clean, easy-to-use interface. Users can track FedEx, UPS, and USPS packages with ease, getting push notifications for shipping updates, viewing a unified shipping map, and even viewing e-receipts from previous purchases.

Congress is a lot like a slot machine - once in a while, something good comes out. A new bill introduced by Representative Ed Markey of Massachusetts would require cellular carriers in the US to disclose to end users upon purchase of a mobile device any tracking software present on said device, or any such software that might be installed at a later date by the carrier, manufacturer, or OS provider (that would be Google for Android).

After the Carrier IQ debacle, the public has taken a heightened interest in the privacy of the information on their smartphone devices, and rightfully so.

Delta Airlines customers with Android or iOS devices now have one more awesome feature to use with the airline's Fly Delta app – the ability to track their checked luggage as if it were a package, a feature previously only available online or at Delta customer service desks.

The app's latest update includes a rather sophisticated tracking system, which will scan your claim tag and automatically update with the location of your bags, ensuring that you always know where your bags are, and can be sure that they are traveling along without issue.

In addition to tracking your bags, the app will notify you of which carousel holds your luggage, greatly cutting down on time spent looking around or impatiently waiting for the arrival screen to update.

Great news for those who have pre-ordered Notion Ink's first tablet, the Adam: they're starting to ship. Notion Ink has apparently just received their first large shipment, and posted their own unboxing and hands-on photos, while some pre-order customers now have tracking numbers in their hot little hands. Very exciting, no?

First up are the shipping details, courtesy of Adam fanblog AdamLogs. Looks like the person behind the blog has found that there's now a link to "Check Pre-Order Status" on the Notion Ink website. Once you do, you can find your details and a tracking link:

And once you click on the tracking link:

They're also sending an email to those whose Adam is on its way explaining just that fact, and explaining how to track the order:
