Trello for Android, a popular task management app that describes itself as "a whiteboard with super powers," got a big update today, introducing the app's "first foray into material design." The update comes with revamped layouts, new navigation paradigms, and tons of aesthetic improvements.
In a post to the Trello blog, Dan Lew explains that the revamp was "a ton of work," noting that not a single corner of the interface went unnoticed - the entire interface was given close inspection with Google's new design philosophies in mind, but Lew stresses that the core experience remains the same. Todoist is a simple to-do list manager that syncs automatically across a large number of platforms. The Android app extends much of the service's functionality to mobile phones and tablets, much of which we've detailed in the past. There's Google Now integration, DashClock support, and a clean UI that looks at home on KitKat devices.
But there's a downside. There are no shortage of to-do list apps available for Android, yet since the beginning, Todoist has charged a monthly or annual fee to get access to its full set of features. Read More
There are more than a few note-taking apps on the Play Store, including established veteran Evernote and Google's own Keep. But Automattic, the company formed by WordPress creator Matt Mullenweg, thinks you'll be interested in at least one more. After a considerable period of iOS exclusivity, Simplenote is now available on the Google Play Store. It's free to download and use.
Simplenote hits all the check marks for a new notation app: syncing across devices and the service website, a to do list as well as more general notes, searching through previous notes, and tags for a better filing system. Read More
Remember the Milk lovers – tired of that drab old interface? Ready for something new and exciting? Want to remember your milk on a bigger screen than your phone's? Today's your lucky day! The app was just updated to v3, which brings all sorts of new features.
First, and most obvious, you get a whole new interface. It actually reminds me a lot of Evernote, which is a good thing for this sort of app – I find the stacked card interface to be quite intuitive. Read More
Though you may not know it from looking at the version number, Todoist - the self-proclaimed "ultimate todo list," - got a sizeable upgrade today to 1.0.4. The update brings with it a bevy of new features, a handful of enhancements, and the promise of a new feature called Karma that's already implemented on seven out of the nine platforms Todoist supports.
Among the new features that did make the cut for Android, however, are widgets, a persistent "quick-add notification," new settings, the ability to complete a task by swiping left, a redesigned task list, and initial support for tablets. Read More
Raise your hand if you've made a resolution to be more focused and productive in 2013. Now put it back down again, because you're probably reading an Android blog on a Tuesday morning when you should be working/exercising/enriching the lives of your fellow men. But if you're serious about time management, a to do list is a must, and this unofficial Cheddar app might just be our new favorite.
If you're unfamiliar with Cheddar, it's a popular to do application that seems to have a personal grudge against hardware that isn't designed in California. Read More
As Android Police's unofficial person who knows things about laws (as always, none of this is legal advice), sometimes I see law stuff going on in the tech world that just makes me mad. This is one of those times. Appigo, an iOS and OS X developer, filed for a trademark on the word "Todo" (see it here) under the scope of a software application (basically).
Yesterday, we received an email from a developer of an app for Android called Star Trek ToDo Agenda. Read More
Astrid has been one of the most popular To-Do list apps for Android for years. Today it's getting a facelift and a few extra features. Most notably, Astrid now has a spiffy tablet UI. Making use of the Fragments API, Astrid lays out your Lists panel, your individual tasks, and details on each individual task for easy access. Like so:
Simple, straightforward, and easy. The new UI is being added to more than just tablets, though. Read More
How many task managers that keep track of To-Do items can we need on Android? The creators of Taskos, which in itself is a task list manager, thought we were in such dire need for one more that they had to one-up even themselves and create Any.DO.
Any.DO has a completely new interface that is so slick that you will find yourself wondering whether you're running an Android app at all. Read More
If you already use Remember the Milk to handle your todo lists, then there's a good chance you already know about this update. If you're not currently using RtM, though, then maybe it's time to give it another look.
The latest update brings an enhanced interface for more intuitive task management, as well as some new features and widgets. The updated app also includes another major change: it's now free for everyone. Read More
