Yesterday, developer and XDA member zehro released his minimalist clock app, clockr. The app is actually a widget - and it really is as simple as it sounds: it's a pure-text clock.

At the moment, there are no customization options for the widget - that's coming at some point - but it looks like user hollywooder has been hard at work creating alternate themes for the clock. The upside is that there's a degree of variability in usage; the obvious downside is that you need to download and flash an .APK to change the colors.

Nevertheless, it's a very cool widget and perfect for minimalistic themes.

There is talk of rooting and ROMs throughout this article. If you aren't familiar with the process or its pros and cons, you can check out our primers here:

Sprintgirl, a user in the Android Central forums, has put together a tutorial for people who want to start theming their rooted Android phones. While the process is a bit, well, ugly, to put it nicely, this tutorial should help to clear some of the fog from the process. The tutorial uses the EVO 4G as it's target device but, as we know, Android is basically the same across all different phones so the process will remain more or less the same.

Are you an Ubuntu fan? Then you are going to love Ryan Olson, the designer behind the Ubuntu Theme for ADW Launcher. Ryan launched the theme 4 days ago and so far it's been well received scoring a 4.28/5 average with more than 5000 downloads.

As Jaroslav mentioned today in his Modder’s Monday: Hacking Without Hacking – A Guide to Customizing Your Android Device Without Voiding Your Warranty, you don't need to root or hack your Android in order to customize your launcher, and ADW is one of the best launchers Android offers.

Check out the screenshots below and then proceed to download ADW and the theme below.

This is a short PSA for those of you who are xda-developers forum fans. I know there are quite a few, considering xda is leading the poll in this post Android Forum Roundup: Where Do You Go For Android Help And Discussion? Vote For Your Favorites.

Xda forum admins have been working on a new skin, to bring an updated look to a relatively mediocre (though so familiar) looking skin. You can test out the new skin by going to this url: http://forum.xda-developers.com/?styleid=16. This should set a cookie that overrides your current skin and temporarily sets it to the new one.
