Big Top THD To Bring Cartoony Circus Fun To Your Tegra 3 Device (Later This Month)

Adding another entry to the Tegra Zone's small, yet ever growing collection of Tegra 3 optimized games, Pitbull Studio Ltd is planning to release Big Top THD in December 2011. Big Top is a cartoony, yet lavishly styled game that lets you run away to the circus, while fully utilizing the awesomeness that is NVIDIA's powerful quad-core superchip.

Big Top THD takes players through a beautifully-rendered circus, including pie throwing, plate spinning, juggling, and diving challenges as well as testing a handful of other typical circus skills.

Besides allowing players to try their hand at various circus acts, the game is technologically stunning, incorporating real-time shadow generation, per-pixel lighting, and sophisticated animation capabilities.

Glowball Officially Hits The Tegra Zone, Still Looks Absolutely Beautiful

Remember way back in May, when NVIDIA showed off Glowball to demonstrate the Tegra 3's awesome quad-core power? Well, it looks like the full version of the visually stunning, technologically fascinating "interactive demo" has made its way to the Tegra Zone.

Glowball isn't quite a game, as it consists of just two levels, and was specifically designed to showcase the Tegra 3's power, but it certainly seems like an enjoyable doodad for your Tegra 3 device. Users can play through richly detailed Carnival and Sea Floor environments, rolling about and experiencing the power of NVIDIA PhysX, as environmental elements hit back or otherwise react to user input.

Da Vinci THD To Be The First Full Tegra 3 Game, Bringing A Dynamic Online FPS Experience To Your Quad-Core Device

Built using Unreal Engine 3, Da Vinci THD is the first full game to appear for Tegra 3 devices, and seems to be packing some serious online FPS gameplay. The game is set during the Renaissance, just after Da Vinci's death, when "heroes of [the] Renaissance" begin battling to capture a mysterious machine created by the famed inventor and artist. The real story, though, is Da Vinci's gameplay.

Players can explore beautifully crafted environments, and utilize powerful weapons while battling with (or against) other players online. What's interesting about Da Vinci, is that there is a PC version in the works as well, which will open up a much larger opportunity for rich online play.

NVIDIA Gives Us The First Look At Android 4.0 On A Tablet, Teases ICS On The ASUS Transformer Prime

You know what you need on a Tuesday morning? Some news about three of the most anticipated things coming out before the end of the year all wrapped into one video: the ASUS Transformer Prime, the Tegra 3 processor, and Ice Cream Sandwich.

After the release of the Ice Cream Sandwich source code, the guys at NVIDIA got together with the Prime crew from ASUS to get a build working on the Prime as quickly as possible. Once that was finished, they decided to shoot a nice teaser video to whet our appetites just a little bit more. Check it:

This is the first time that we've actually seen ICS running on a tablet, and it's already clear that it works very similar to Honeycomb.

We knew that ASUS would be far from the only manufacturer working on a new tablet featuring the beastly NVIDIA Tegra 3 and Ice Cream Sandwich, and Engadget got their hands on some exclusive details of an upcoming Lenovo tablet that looks to give the Transformer Prime a run for its money. The tablet, said to be out by the end of the year, not only packs the Tegra 3, but 2GB of DDR3 RAM, a full-size USB port, a "fusion-skin body," and a fingerprint scanner/optical joystick on the backside, all powered by Android 4.0.

Tegra 3-Packing Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime Gets The Hands-On Treatment

Brace yourselves. The quad cores are coming.

Some lucky person got their hands on an Asus Transformer Prime, with a real life Nvidia Tegra 3 inside. For those who haven't heard, the Transformer is kind of a big deal. It's Asus' 2nd gen tablet/laptop hybrid (the base disconnects), and it looks to be the first ever Android device with a quad core processor.

Naturally, the state of the art processor means this is a blazing fast device. The reviewer says the sound is pretty good too.

There's no doubt that the Tegra 3 is going to be the reigning champ of mobile chips when it's released -- its quad-core setup and brilliant design offers the best of both worlds where performance and battery life are concerned.

For low power tasks, the fifth core, known as the companion core, runs the show; as more powerful processes come into play, the high performance cores activate and deactivate as needed. For things like playing music, watching video (even streaming 1080p), the companion core takes care of the job. For web browsing, one or two main cores may activate depending on activity.

Leaked Press Shot Of The HTC Edge Shows Up, Rumored To Be The First Quad-Core Phone

While we already know the world's first quad-core tablet will be the ASUS Transformer Prime, we just got a glimpse of the first quad-core phone. It's rumored to be called the HTC Edge, and the hardware sounds completely beast.

1GB RAM
8MP f/2.2 lens
10mm thick

There is one small detail that you may have already noticed: capacitive buttons. Of course, that doesn't mean this phone won't come with ICS right out of the gate, it just means that it won't take advantage of on-screen buttons.

According to PocketNow, we could see this device hit stores in late Q1 or early Q2 of next year, though carrier info is nowhere to be found.

Game Review: Shadowgun Is The Most Advanced Shooter On Android To Date, And It's Out Now

Shadowgun is a game we've been following since its announcement for Android earlier this year. A couple weeks back, we received a preview build to test the game out (that link contains a gameplay video as well). Now, I've played the full version of the game and can report my findings more completely.

My conclusion? Shadowgun takes Android gaming to the next level, and while it's not without its flaws, it sets the bar very high for the somewhat low $5 game price point.
