ASUS continues its domination of the Android tablet market with the introduction of the Transformer Pad 300 Series. While the naming scheme for ASUS' tablets may be reaching near-Samsung levels of confusing, the new mid-range tablets look to be a great way to get yourself a 10" tablet without breaking the bank.

The tablet packs the same Tegra 3 SoC as its big brother, though we'd imagine it's clocked a little slower than the Prime and Infinity variants. It also contains the same 22Whr battery and 1GB of RAM. The major difference, thankfully, isn't in lower specs or older versions of Android, but in materials.

LG has officially unveiled the Optimus 4X HD, a rather impressive Ice Cream Sandwich-powered phone which ended up being too exciting to keep under wraps until MWC.

The Optimus 4X HD features NVIDIA's Tegra 3 processor (in all its 4-Plus-1 glory), and a handful of other powerful specs. A full list of specifications hasn't been released just yet (and presumably won't be until MWC), but here is what we know so far:

  • Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
  • Tegra 3 Quad-Core Processor at 1.5GHz
  • 4.7" IPS display at 720p
  • 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front shooter
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB onboard storage
  • 2150 mAh battery
  • Razor thin 8.9mm thickness
  • SHSPA+ 21Mbps connectivity

As things stand, the Optimus 4X HD is slated to be LG's first Ice Cream Sandwich-powered phone.

The Tegra 3, NVIDIA's awesome quad-core processor (introduced last November) has been a hero of the mobile electronics world in recent times, making possible amazing mobile gaming, buttery smooth interactions, and better battery life. Until now, though, the only way to describe the chip's innovative architecture was to use its technical moniker – variable symmetric multiprocessing (vSMP). Today, however, NVIDIA coined the term "4-Plus-1" to more easily describe the configuration.

For those unaware, the Tegra 3 uses four cores for resource-taxing activities like gaming, while its low-powered "ninja core" lays back, ready to handle simpler tasks like e-mail processing or standby operation.

LG-X3

Okay, so CES didn't provide all the quad-core, ICS-running goodness that we'd all hoped for. Don't fret, though - Mobile World Congress is coming up at the end of next month and will probably deliver more super-powered Android than we can handle.

One such device is likely to be a new handset from LG, codenamed X3. According to PocketNow, this will be the first quad-core offering from the company, packing the NVIDIA Tegra 3 superchip under its hood. Other rumored specs include a massive 4.7-inch 1,280x720 display, 8MP and 1.2MP rear and front shooters respectively, 16GB of on-board storage, microSD card slot, and a 2,000mAh battery.

NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang outed a new 7-inch Tegra 3 ICS tablet today for a revolutionary price - $249. While we know very little about the tablet right this moment, we do know that it was developed by ASUS and it's not the Eee Pad MeMo ME171 that was unveiled earlier today.

Update: Apparently this device is still in its early days, as it still doesn't even have a name. Or a release date. That's the official word at this moment. We were finally able to get some clarification on what this tablet is. It is the real Eee Pad MeMo ME370T, and the 7" ASUS tablet we posted about this morning was actually the Eee Pad MeMO ME171.

Update 2 - It's Out! We've got the download right here.

Update 1 - Confirmed: Asus says ICS hits at 8pm Pacific time, today!

Here's a bit of news from the Nvidia's CES Press Conference. Jen-Hsun Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, announced that the Asus Transformer Prime is getting its Ice Cream Sandwich update today (January 9th, for those of you in the future).

The Transformer Prime sports an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, so Huang should have inner knowledge of the TPrime's update schedule. Previously the Prime's Ice Cream Sandwich OTA was set for January 12th, so if Huang is right, it looks like Asus finished up a little early.

Hot on the heels of the unveiling of Fujitsu's ES IS12F, the world's thinnest smartphone, a leaflet circulating at CES today indicates that Fujitsu has something even more awesome in the works. It would seem that Fujitsu is on the brink of revealing a (yet unnamed) smartphone that packs not only Ice Cream Sandwich, but a quad-core Tegra 3 processor.

Little else is known about the mystery device, but judging from the specs we have so far, this phone sounds like a dream machine. It's unclear whether we'll get to see the device at CES, but we'll be here to cover any and all details as they are revealed.

We arrived at CES earlier today, and Acer's pre-CES event was the first item on our agenda (yes, on a Sunday). The company unveiled a number of ultrabooks. a new cloud service, and briefly mentioned that it was bringing a brand-new Android tablet to market later this year - so briefly that we didn't even hear the name of the device mentioned (obviously, we later found out what it was called).

The Iconia A700 will be the company's second attempt at a flagship, 10.1-inch Android tablet. While we didn't grab any hands-on time with the new tab at Acer's press event earlier today, we watched the device demoed and it looks fairly impressive.

It appears this may have been a special offer limited to select customers who preordered a different color that was delayed, and that the web page was set up to never run out of stock. The shipping date may be completely wrong, as well. We're waiting on a response from Best Buy to confirm, but given that it's a holiday, we're not expecting it until Monday. We advise you not to order.

If you head over to the Best Buy website right now, for $499.99, you can get your very own ASUS Transformer Prime 32GB Amethyst Gray edition on its way to your doorstep from Best Buy's warehouse on Monday, December 27th.
