If you're a Huawei MediaPad owner, you'd better get ready for some delicious Ice Cream Sandwich, because all existing versions of the tablet will receive the update to Android 4.0 by the end of the first quarter. In addition, all new MediaPads shipped after the update hits will have ICS pre-loaded.

If you're thinking about buying the tablet anytime soon, there will be some color options added to the mix. You'll have the option of the existing silver model, as well as black, brown, or pink.

We're live at CES on the show floor this morning, meandering around countless booths to bring you all the Android-related news you can handle. One of our first stops in the Las Vegas Convention Center was the Toshiba booth, where the company demoed three brand-new Android tablets, which they refused to tell us anything about - aside from their display sizes (and the fact that they are coming at some point this year).

We arrived at CES earlier today, and Acer's pre-CES event was the first item on our agenda (yes, on a Sunday). The company unveiled a number of ultrabooks. a new cloud service, and briefly mentioned that it was bringing a brand-new Android tablet to market later this year - so briefly that we didn't even hear the name of the device mentioned (obviously, we later found out what it was called).

Barnes & Noble announced today that it is considering selling its NOOK business, citing significant shortfalls in sales and cutting its full-year forecast.

B&N also cited NOOK sales which fell below expectations, and investments in advertising and expansion as reasons for a predicted shortfall in fiscal 2012 sales of between $200 million and $320 million less than average estimates of $7.32 billion.

The major bookseller indicated that it plans to market the NOOK for "years to come," but that it "over-anticipated the growth in consumer demand for single-purpose black-and-white reading devices this holiday," as the company's simplest e-reader lagged far behind in sales compared to other members of the NOOK family.

Late last year Google chairman Eric Schmidt commented to an Italian newspaper that "in the next six months [Google planned] to market a tablet of the highest quality". His statement generated much speculation primarily over whether Google planned on releasing a self-branded "Nexus" tablet or whether they would merely partner with a device manufacturer, such as Motorola, Samsung, or HTC.

According to a rumour from Taiwanese electronics daily DigiTimes, Google may be preparing to launch an "own-brand tablet PC...targeting Amazon's 7-inch Kindle Fire".

The carrier-connected Honeycomb tablet arena hasn't been very successful up to this point, mostly due to the outrageous prices that the units have been showing up with -- we've yet to see one for less than $400. Enter the Pantech Element, a "waterproof" tablet that looks to change the game with its sub-$300 price tag.

The Element is an 8-inch Honeycomb-powered tablet that runs on AT&T's LTE network, packing a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of storage, 5MP rear shooter, and 2MP front camera.
