Android-powered desktops are a niche purchase, but there are use cases where one can come in handy. HP's aimed its Slate21 Pro PC at the business and education market, where having a virus-free machine that can browse the web and type up the occasional document is enough to fit the bill. The all-in-one generally retails for $379.99, but today Groupon is offering one up in new condition for just $249.99. That's a pretty substantial 34% discount off the MSRP and $50 less than what the PC goes for on Amazon.

I know a lot of people with kids. And from those people, one of the most common questions I get (especially this time of year) is "what's a good tablet for my child?" In the past there has only been one answer to that: Fuhu's nabi. The age of the child has a lot to do with my recommendation, of course, as there are different nabi series for varying ages. But the point is the same: the nabi has been the reigning champ of kids' tablets.

note 10.1 2014

If you're an owner of an LTE Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition on T-Mobile (SM-P607T), today could be your lucky day. If you head on over to your tablet's settings and check for an update, you may just have a surprise waiting for you. According to Samsung, a new Android 4.4.4 update is available. This update is significant, not just for its Android version bump, but also because it means that an LTE variant of this tablet is getting said bump before its WiFi-only counterpart.

Nexus season is in full swing, and as rumors and leaks continue to pile up around Motorola's Nexus 6 (Shamu), we've been wondering when more news might emerge about Volantis (or Flounder, or T1, take your pick) - HTC's 9" Nexus tablet that we first learned of back in spring.

As Blog of Mobile reports, it looks like the Nexus 9 has passed through the FCC for certification, with the relevant documents becoming available just yesterday.

Along with a handful of new tablets, Amazon has officially announced Fire OS 4 (codenamed Sangria), which it says adds hundreds of new features to the "content-forward" operating system.

First and foremost, Amazon says the user interface in Fire OS has gotten a facelift. Amazon hasn't gone into detail in describing its UI changes, but visual tweaks are certainly welcome to an interface that can at times seem scattered.

Besides that, Amazon is touting new features like ASAP, Smart Suspend, and the addition of individual user profiles to make for easier sharing among families.
