LG Announces The G Pad II 10.1: Snapdragon 800 Processor, 1920x1200 Screen, 2GB Of RAM, Wi-Fi And LTE Models Planned

A couple of weeks ago we spotted LG's new G Pad II 8.0, at that point announced exclusively for the company's home market of South Korea. The hardware is underwhelming at best: despite some interesting features like a full-sized USB port and a stylus, many were put off by the pokey Snapdragon 210 processor and 1.5GB of RAM. Fortunately, it looks like LG isn't going to go for the lowest common denominator with all its forthcoming tablets. The G Pad II 10.1, announced today, has a little more oomph to its hardware.

To begin with, it uses a 1920x1200 screen, which has become essentially the lowest point of entry for 10-inch tablets at this point (no matter what Samsung says).

HP Isn't Done With Android Just Yet - 'HP 10 G2' Tablet Certified By The FCC And The Bluetooth SIG

So far HP's Android tablets have been somewhat unremarkable, with the arguable exception of the Pro Slate series. Despite a lukewarm response from consumers and retailers, it looks like the company is ready to release at least one more model. A new tablet called the HP 10 G2 has been hanging out with both the FCC and the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, and spotted by Liliputing. Based on the "10 G2" name and photos, it looks like a relatively low-cost follow-up to the original HP 10.

Specs are sparse, but we do know it uses a MediaTek MT8127A 1.5GHz quad-core processor, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

Users Report The Bootloader On The Dell Venue 8 7840 Can Now Be Unlocked With 'Fastboot OEM Unlock,' Nexus-Style

Earlier this week the super-skinny Dell Venue 8 7840 was given its Android 5.1 update. It looks like the firmware developers left in a goodie for power users: the new "OEM Unlocking" option in the Developer Options menu, first noticed on the latest round of Nexus devices when Lollipop 5.1 was going out earlier this year. According to an Android Police tipster and multiple posts on the XDA-Developers forum, this allows end users to easily unlock the bootloader of the tablet, something that wasn't a simple process before.

To unlock the bootloader, you just need to go through the familiar steps that are shared across most Nexus and "developer" devices: install Fastboot on a PC, make sure you've got the right drivers, connect the device, reboot into fastboot mode, and execute the command "fastboot OEM unlock." The only difference is the addition of the prerequisite manual switch in the Developer Options menu when Android is booted.
