Square Enix And Eidos Interactive Announce Deus Ex: The Fall, Headed To Android... Eventually

Android gamers have been waiting a long time for world-class publishers and developers to start creating mobile games with the same dedication that consoles and PC get. It looks like we'll have to wait just a little bit longer. Yesterday Square Enix and Eidos Interactive announced Deus Ex: The Fall, a full entry in the much-loved Deus Ex series, set in the same time period as 2011's Human Revolution. The initial media blitz has a lot to say about the iOS version of the game, due "soon," and almost nothing to say about Android.

An Android release is coming, according to a the very last sentence in an Eidos community blog post.

[New Game] Square Enix's Final Fantasy IV Available On The Play Store, With Full 3D Graphics And The Usual High Price

The updated version of RPG classic Final Fantasy III has managed to sell over 100,000 copies on Android, despite its super-premium $16 price tag. Square Enix is hoping to replicate that success with the next entry in the series, predictably titled Final Fantasy IV. It's available now for Android 2.3.3 and higher, at the same $15.99 price. If you're looking to party like it's 1991, head to the Play Store now.

This version of FFIV is a port of the Nintendo DS update, released in 2008 in North America. Like FFIII before it, it gets a complete rebuild, with 3D polygonal graphics, fully-rendered cinematics, some basic voice acting, slightly tweaked gameplay and movement mechanics, and a few mini-games thrown in for good measure.

[Deal Alert] Square Enix's $20 Demons' Score On Sale For 50% Off In The Play Store

Square Enix is kind of known for having some pretty hefty prices on its games, even those outside of the Final Fantasy franchise. For that reason, we always like to see a sale that might make the purchase a little more palatable. If you've been eyeing Demons' Score since it launched in December, now is the time to jump on it. Until April 25th, the rhythm-action game will only cost $9.99.

A $10 price tag is still a little steep compared to a typical Android game, but it is pretty reasonable for the graphic quality and level of polish Square Enix is known for.

[Deal Alert] Square Enix Slashes Prices On Chaos Rings And Chaos Rings Omega By Over 50% (Now $4.18 Each)

If you're an RPG fan and haven't given Square Enix's Chaos Rings titles a spin on Android yet, they're almost definitely now worth the price of admission: just about $4 each. With the release of Chaos Rings 2 for Android yesterday, Square Enix is celebrating by slashing the price of the two earlier titles.

Both games are content-rich and story-driven JRPG's in the traditional style, though don't let their decided conservativeness in the genre fool you - the Chaos Rings games are Rolls Royces in a category (mobile RPGs) dominated by Kias. And at this price, now is definitely the time to buy.

[New Game] Square Enix Recycles Some Intellectual Property With New Endless Runner Mini Ninjas [Update]

If you were to look through the back catalog of console games circa 2009, you might be surprised to find a game called Mini Ninjas getting a disproportionate amount of press. It was a fun little title that mixed kid-friendly themes and Japanese mythology with solid stealth and combat gameplay. If you're hoping for a return to sneaking around Edo castles and facing off against gigantic bosses, too bad, because publisher Square has re-used the name and assets for an otherwise unremarkable endless runner game.

To be fair, it's a pretty good runner, considering just how many have flooded the market as of late.

Square Enix Releases Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy Dimensions, And Demon's Score THD On The Play Store

If you're a Final Fantasy fan, you'll want to get yourself over to the Play Store as soon as possible, because Square Enix has just released Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy Dimensions for Android.

The titles don't come cheap; Final Fantasy II is priced at $7, whereas Dimensions will put you back $20, but considering how much similar games from Square on other platforms cost, it's not a terrible deal.

The two Final Fantasy titles don't require a top-of-the-range smartphone to run smoothly, but if you want to play Demon's Score THD, Square's third release on Android today, you'll need a device which has a Tegra 3 chip.

Running Rings Around Other RPGs: Chaos Rings Omega Review

What looks, plays, and sounds like a Final Fantasy game, but isn’t? If you answered Chaos Rings Omega, I’d like to give you a no-prize. This game comes to us from publisher Square-Enix, who also handles a lot of the other JRPGs that have shaped the genre into what it is today.

Like my colleagues at AP have commented, the Chaos Rings series may be their way of testing the waters before a full-fledged Final Fantasy mobile title, and it shows; the game is one of the most beautiful that I’ve ever played on the Android platform, and it is worth every penny of the $12.99 price tag.
