[Updated: It's Official] Sprint Galaxy Tab To Enter Atmosphere On November 14th

As you may remember, all 4 major US carriers are slated to receive the Galaxy Tab this year. While we now know Verizon's launch date of November 11th and T-Mobile's November 10th, Sprint only had an unofficial and shaky rumor of November 14th, leaked by BGR. Thanks to this handy inventory sheet acquired by Android Central, we can probably consider the previous rumor confirmed, if this document is indeed authentic:

On the list, the Tab is called the Samsung P1 Tablet, but that's our guy, with his 7-inch screen, 1GHz processor, Gorilla Glass, and all the fun stuff we saw in the hands-on videos (sorry - no 4G for you).

An HTC Knight On The Horizon - Is This Sprint's Next Blockbuster?

As if Samsung's Epic 4G and HTC's EVO 4G weren't enough to keep Sprint's customers happy, an anonymous tipster just let XDA-developers in on another device that might be headed to the nation's third-largest carrier: the HTC Knight. He didn't exactly provide a heap of information about it, but he did give XDA the following excerpt from an XML file, presumably part of an instruction manual:

3. Make sure to activate your device before you operate the handset by setting up the Google account on the device. 4. To view the contacts on the device, select “Contacts” and push “Menu” button, select “Display group > All contacts > OK”.

Samsung Promises FroYo Update For All Galaxy S Versions In November [Update: UK Only]

All together now: finally! After several broken promises and recalled updates, Samsung's just announced that Android 2.2 FroYo will be available through a "brand new version of Kies" (that's Samsung's software upgrade system) early in November for Galaxy S owners in the UK, while "all operator versions" are "expected" to be available by the end of November (hopefully that includes the "operator versions" of the Galaxy S that Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile are currently carrying here in the States). One could complain that it's about four months late, and that's likely due to the evils of custom UIs - but then again, it's better late than never, right?

Sprint And Clearwire Teaming Up To Provide WiMax In NYC Starting Nov. 1st, LA From Dec. 1st And SF By Year's End.

This news has been some time coming, but it finally looks like the time is nigh: Sprint WiMax will soon be available in three of America's hottest of hot-spots. While Sprint has had 4G-capable devices out for several months now, the country's two main technology centres have been starved of WiMax coverage. Sprint may fear the same backlash AT&T received when their network got hammered by the iPhone, so they must be hoping for a more positive reception.

The coverage itself will be provided in conjunction with Clearwire, who have been busy setting up their networks in preparation for these final deadlines.

Sanyo Zio And Samsung Transform Now Hitting Sprint Shelves

The first two of Sprint's latest three-phone, mid-range lineup are now arriving to various Sprint retailers, such as Best Buy, sprint.com, Wirefly.com, and others. While they aren't the powerhouses that we've gotten used to, the Sanyo Zio and the Samsung Transform are good introductory-level Android devices for people who want to dump their feature phones for smartphones without having to shell out the big bucks. They are joining the ranks of Sprint's other low-to-mid-range phones, such as the Samsung Intercept and the HTC Hero.

CyanogenMod 6 Coming Soon To Epic 4G? [PIC]

The invasion continues! Development of CyanogenMod 6 for the Epic 4G is clearly coming along nicely, as a picture of it running has just been released as a quick "status update" on the CM forums.

The fact that it is actually running on the device is encouraging, but we could still be pretty far away from a testable version: no downloads are available yet, and if you look at the notification bar, you'll see a pretty significant bug in this build. Still, if you're desperately awaiting Android 2.2 (or just vanilla Android) on your Epic, just know that it's on the way.

Samsung Transform And Sanyo Zio Android Handsets Coming To Sprint

Assuming this leaked image is real, Sprint has got two new Android devices in store for its customers, although one of them is hardly new at all: the Kyocera Zio, which will be branded as the Sanyo Zio, and the Samsung Transform, which appears to be another Android device, perhaps even from the Galaxy S series.

The Zio probably won't fire anybody up; it was announced last March, and even then it was considered a mid-range phone. In the few shots that exist of the device, it appears to be running stock Android, and is still thought to launch with Android 2.1.

Sprint Launches 4G In Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN And Pittsburgh, PA

Sprint continued its 4G announcement marathon this morning with the official launch of WiMax service in Minneapolis-St.Paul, MN, also known as Twin Cities, and Pittsburgh, PA. Welcome to the fast lane!

This announcement follows the Nashville 4G launch 2 weeks ago, Orlando launch last week, and the introduction of Epic 4G in the beginning of the month. Sprint’s 4G service now covers 55 markets.

Users of the only 2 aforementioned devices capable of running on Sprint’s 4G network are charged an extra $10 "premium data" fee, no matter whether 4G is available in their area or not.
