DarkSilver-590x603

It looks like the Galaxy S III isn't the only device getting a makeover in the color department: Sony just announced that the Xperia S will be available soon in dark silver. The device is currently available in both white and black, so if you have some sort of phobia against the extreme color palate, then this new version may be the answer to your I-want-an-Xperia-S-but-hate-black-and-white prayers.

Unfortunately, Sony failed to mentioned when exactly this new color option will become available, only suggesting that we "keep [our] eyes peeled."

  • 1.5GHz dual-core processor
  • 32GB built-in storage

If you still haven't gotten your hands on Samsung's coveted Galaxy Nexus, now's your chance – Daily Steals is offering the 16GB Galaxy Nexus, unlocked, in either silver or white, for the crazy low price of $459.99. That's a whopping $290 off list price (and $70 cheaper than the last deal we saw).

If for whatever reason you haven't memorized the Galaxy Nexus' specs just yet, here's a list of reasons why it's an awesome phone:

  • Pure Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich experience
  • 16GB internal storage
  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 4.56" 720p HD Super AMOLED display
  • 5MP rear shooter (and 1.3MP front-facing camera)
  • 1GB RAM

This deal will only be around until midnight on March 22, so those interested in grabbing an unlocked Galaxy Nexus at an awesome price should head over to Daily Steals (linked below) and take advantage of the discount.

OK, so it might not be the Galaxy Nexus, but HTC's Wildfire S for Virgin Mobile is a fairly decent smartphone (the carrier's second best option), and it is available off-contract for a fraction of the price of a more high-end handset. Under regular circumstances, the device comes in at just $199.99 without any sort of contract, but from now until Saturday (November 26th), it's half off - $99.99.

Again, that's less than a Benjamin for a fully off-contract Wildfire S, complete with:

  • Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
  • WiFi/3G radios
  • Bluetooth
  • A 3.2-inch touch screen
  • A microSD card slot
  • A 5.0MP camera
  • A battery good for 4 hours of talk time/12.5 days of standby

Admittedly, those specs don't quite make for a flagship handset, but then again, it costs under a seventh of the off-contract price of, say, the Galaxy Nexus.

The newest version of Sprint's weekly "playbook" has been sent around to employees, and as usual, we have a copy. Sadly, this week's edition doesn't exactly inspire confidence for the future of the nation's third-largest carrier - in fact, one of Sprint's primary benefits, the Premier program, will be disappearing down the drain shortly. It's not all bad news, though, so let's dig in and see what's up and coming in the world of Sprint.

Please note that this offer ended on July 31, 2011. Please do not contact Sprint about getting an override on your upgrade anymore!

Last week we posted a poll asking Sprint customers which phone they were hoping to get next. A few commenters complained that they were victims of the Sprint Premier split, wherein people who were at the lower end of Premier previously were moved to Premier Silver, thereby losing their annual upgrades.

Well it looks like Sprint's announcement earlier today wasn't the only piece of news headed the 7-inch slate of glory's way; Pocketables has received a screenshot indicating that Best Buy too will be carrying the tablet.

That's right - and not only will our favorite yellow-themed retailer be selling the Sprint and Verizon versions of the device; they'll also be exchanging a silver, WiFi-only edition of the Tab for $499, which, mind you, is the same price as the 16GB WiFi-only iPad.
