Meganoid(2017)

Android Police coverage: OrangePixel releases Meganoid 2017, offering more classic platforming action and frustration

Somewhat of a confusing release, Meganoid (2017) is different from the previous versions of Meganoid and Meganoid 2.

Capcom releases 1942 Mobile, but is it any good?

What is this? Another classic Capcom title with the word "Mobile" affixed at the end? If you think that looks eerily familiar to the Mega Man Mobile games recently released on the Play Store, you would be correct. Sadly, this means that 1942 Mobile is not a port of the arcade classic but a rehash of one of their mobile JAVA releases from years back. Yep that is correct, this is a port of a flip-phone game. While not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself the question remains... has Capcom learned from past mistakes?

[New Game] Super Psycho Cycle Is A Game Where You Shoot Bullets At Things And Then They Die

Some video games are true works of art, immersing the player in deep, believable worlds, surrounding them with thoughtful characters, and tying it all together with organic gameplay to create truly immersive experiences. Some video games strap an AK-47 on a motorcycle and let you make "vroom vroom" noises while shooting more lead than the annual NRA duck hunt. Guess which category Super Psycho Cycle falls into.

Super Psycho Cycle falls squarely into the "retro" category, recreating a top-down space shooter with a Harley Davidson theme. You are T-Dawg, a badass biker whose extreme alcoholism is matched only by his facial hair.

[New Game] Shoot-Em-Up Sleeper Hit Sine Mora Touches Down In The Play Store After Brief Amazon Exclusivity

Sine Mora got its start on the Xbox Live Arcade last summer and has slowly but surely been spreading to every platform under the sun. The 2.5D space shooter might not be the "legendary cult classic" that its description alludes to, but it's certainly been well-received by shmup fans, and it's now available on Google Play after a brief spell on the Amazon Appstore. It's a bit on the pricy side at $5.99.

The shooter takes place in a dieselpunk universe (like steampunk, but smellier, and you can use it to poison weeds) where biplanes and giant robots co-exist... but not peacefully.

Tainted Keep

[New Game] Plasma Sky Delivers A Beautiful Space Shooter, Plus Lots And Lots Of Lasers

I love classic arcade shooters! Neon graphics, fast moving foes, and chirpy sound effects. That style takes me back to the days of playing Asteroid or Galaga on massive cabinets, where reflexes and planning were fundamental and a quarter only bought 3 lives. Spikepit Games brings some of that feeling back with Plasma Sky, but you can keep the change in your pocket.

Like other entries in the Shmup (Shoot'em Up) category, you are in control of a gunship as it battles through an army of oncoming foes. The standard fare of choreographed enemy waves and boss fights is backed by a familiar old-school techno beat, and collectable power-ups improve the ship's guns and grant special advantages like slowing enemies to a crawl.

[New Game] Shogun Rise Of The Renegades Brings "Bullet Hell" To Android With Hours Of Flying Bullets, Sheer Chaos

The developers at int13.net introduced Shogun Rise of the Renegades to the Android Market today, bringing "bullet hell" gameplay reminiscent of Japanese arcade games from the 1990s to the palm of your hand.

For those not in the know, the Japanese sometimes call "bullet hell" style games "danmaku," referring to insane shooters in which players can generally expect most of the screen to be filled with flying bullets.

Shogun definitely delivers on this reputation, providing a continuous stream of chaotic scrolling shooter action. One of Shogun's claims to fame is its dynamic, addictive gameplay - it's easy to get hooked on the manic action and crisp, retro environments offered by Rise of the Renegades, and  the game keeps things interesting with hours of entertainment.
