Nvidia's CES press conference featured a few people playing Shadowgun together, which was a little puzzling, because currently that's impossible. It turns out they were showing off a new version: Shadowgun: Deadzone. The cool new thing about Deadzone, if you haven't guessed by now, is multiplayer support.
Deadzone is bringing all kinds of bells and whistles to the Shadowgun series. It supports 8 player online multiplayer, gamepads, and voice chat. I think that puts it on par with full-on console gaming. You also get a few new toys to impress your friends with: there's new sprint and roll moves, and, of course, more weapons.
While it was by the narrowest of margins that Shadowgun won a plurality of the votes (32% - see below), it's not hard to see why - truly amazing graphics, great over the shoulder gameplay, and console-level polish made it clear from the day we first saw screenshots of this game that it was going to do big things.
The very first quad-core Tegra 3 tablet will be launching soon, and with it comes the promise of a whole new class of Android games. We've already previewed a few such masterpieces; now, with the release of MADFINGER GAMES' Shadowgun, we can add another to the roster.
And what a stunning addition it is! As you can see, its graphics are nothing short of stunning, and the frame rate appears to be smooth as can be.
If you've been envious of some of the awesome new games rolling out for Tegra devices, then you'll be happy to know that two popular Tegra-only titles - Shadowgun and Sprinkle - have just been updated to bring compatibility to non-Tegra devices.
Shadowgun, a futuristic action-shooter, is probably one of the best games for Android to date, sporting insanely good graphics, a decent storyline, and compelling gameplay. This is one game that should definitely be a welcome addition to any gamer's catalog.
If you're not the action- gaming type, then Sprinkle may be more your speed. It's a basic physics-based puzzle game, where you're in charge of extinguishing flames all across the town, avoiding various obstacles as part of your mission.
A few days ago, a post by Industry Gamers titled "GTA Developer Blasts Mobile Gaming for Being Focused on Money Over Quality" sparked quite a debate between Artem and me. We are both fairly old-school gamers, with a history of playing games via consoles and PCs since childhood. Despite both of us being long-time gamers, we had utterly different opinions on the current Android gaming situation.
See, Artem was of the opinion that gaming on Android is pretty bad.
Shadowgun, a game we recently reviewed, is a Tegra-straining, visually impressive, polished action game that has been quickly garnering attention since it was announced. Looking to take players' experience over the top, MadFinger Games opened a thread on their own forums earlier this month, indicating that they were working hard on multiplayer capabilities for Shadowgun, asking for users' "wishes, opinions, or ideas."
Shadowgun is already a great experience, and at the low price of $4.99 US, it's an amazing value. I trust that MadFinger will deliver a multiplayer experience that lives up to the name Shadowgun has already forged for itself, and I am sure I'm not the only one for whom anticipation is quickly mounting for its integration into the game.

Shadowgun is a game we've been following since its announcement for Android earlier this year. A couple weeks back, we received a preview build to test the game out (that link contains a gameplay video as well). Now, I've played the full version of the game and can report my findings more completely.
My conclusion? Shadowgun takes Android gaming to the next level, and while it's not without its flaws, it sets the bar very high for the somewhat low $5 game price point.

When we first saw ShadowGun back in May, we were immediately struck by what was at the time a platform demonstration for NVIDIA's Kal-El quad mobile processor. Character textures were the best we'd seen on any Android game, and the environments looked rich and well-crafted.
Now the developer, MadFinger games, has given us (and a number of other sites - no one has the full version yet, and I mean no one) a pre-release version of the game to try out - optimized for Tegra 2 processors (a Kal-El optimized version will be released later). Unity3D has paved the road for some seriously stunning mobile games, and as smartphones and tablets continue to become more powerful, 3D shooters and other graphics-intensive apps will finally begin to reach their full potential.
A perfect example of this is MadFinger's latest project: Shadowgun, which we last saw in May. The OTS (over-the-shoulder) shooter puts you in the shoes of John Slade, an assassin hired to surreptitiously sneak into Dr. Edgar Simon's heavily guarded mansion.
Of course, the game's graphics are the real center of the hubbub - they're just that good breathtaking:
