If you've been considering making the jump over to T-Mo and aren't interested in the power-packed Amaze 4G, then there's a good chance you've been eyeing the Sensation 4G. If this scenario sounds familiar, then Best Buy's website is the place to be, as you can get the Sensation 4G for nary a dime.

HTC Acknowledges Data-Exposing Vulnerability In Some Devices, Promises Over-The-Air Patch Shortly

HTC acknowledged the vulnerability in some of its devices that Android Police together with Trevor Eckhart posted Saturday night. The privilege escalation vulnerability currently allows a potentially malicious app that uses only the INTERNET permission to connect to HTC's HtcLoggers service and get access to data far exceeding its access rights. This data includes call history, the list of user accounts, including email addresses, SMS data, system logs, GPS data, and more.

HTC added that a software fix is already in the works and will be pushed to affected devices following a brief testing period (hopefully carriers won't end up delaying the OTA roll-out too much due to additional testing and bureaucracies).

HTC Officially Reveals Sensation XE: Beats Audio, 1.5GHz Dual-Core CPU, And No Word On A North American Release

HTC has officially announced the previously-rumored update to the Sensation, dubbed the XE. We heard about it a few weeks ago as the "Special Edition" (or SE), and it looks like the leaked details were spot-on, right down to the Beats Audio integrations.

The press release for the XE touts it provides "the ultimate audio experience." When using the included Beats earbuds (pictured), the phone will switch to a special sound profile, "delivering audio tracks tuned specifically for the headphones."

Other specs of the XE:

1.5GHz dual-core CPU
4.3" qHD SLCD
8MP rear camera, VGA front
1080p vidoe recording
microSD card (8GB or 16GB) in-box

The phone is scheduled to launch in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Asia Pacific later this month.

CyanogenMod 7 Alphas Now Available For The HTC Evo 3D and Sensation

Everyone's favorite stock AOSP ROM, CyanogenMod, has officially made its way to the HTC Evo 3D and Sensation. This is the first build to show up for either device, but according to the respective XDA threads, is stable enough for everyday use.

It's also worth noting that you won't be able to flash this if you used HTC's unlock tool, as it doesn't provide S-OFF, so flashing a custom kernel (which is required with CM) is out of the question. Thus, in order to flash this, you'll need to use Revolutionary to achieve root and unlock the device.

HTC To Release Sensation Special Edition, With Bigger Battery, Faster Processor And Beats Audio

It turns out we might not have to wait too long to see HTC implement the Beats by Dr. Dre audio technology into future phones. The Sensation will soon be getting an upgrade to the Sensation Special Edition 2 that brings a Beats in-ear headset, along with the following additional improvements:

Faster processor: 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon, up from 1.2 GHz
Bigger battery: 1,730 mAH, up from 1,520 mAH
More storage: 4GB, up from 1GB

These improvements will come at a cost - £520 (or around $847) off-contract, to be exact. No word on release date, or if we'll ever see this device stateside, but these details will probably be ironed out at IFA this week.

[Tip] Is Your Sensation Having Touchscreen Issues? Here's A Potential Fix.

Shortly after the HTC Sensation was released, we covered a seemingly random issue with the touchscreen. Not all Sensation owners experienced this issue, and it's still relatively unknown what the exact cause of the problem is.

However, one of the theories formed on XDA is that it's a grounding issue on some devices. On others, though, the issue seems to be completely software related. If you can easily solve the problem by rebooting or a factory reset, then the fix outlined below will not work for you. If, however, this doesn't remedy the problem - even temporarily - then you should continue reading.

[Update: EVO 3D Too] Tip: Android 2.3.4 Update For HTC Sensations In Europe Enables Screenshot Shortcut

Earlier this week, the OTA update to Android 2.3.4 finally began rolling out to HTC Sensations around Europe. Our unit received the update yesterday, and quite by accident we discovered that - besides being able to make voice/video calls in GTalk - we also had a new ability to take screenshots untethered from a computer.

Those of you familiar with the standard method of taking screenshots through the Android SDK know how convoluted the process can be: hunting for drivers, enabling debugging, living down those notification-bar icons ... all a fairly time consuming process. Not to mention you have to be at a computer.

HTC Bootloader Unlock Portal Open - European Sensation Now Unlockable

It seems HTC has made good on its commitment to begin unlocking the bootloaders of its recently released handsets, starting with the European version of the HTC Sensation. You can find the instructions at HTC's developer portal, here. (You may need to log in). Also, here are the scary things you'll have to disclaim before beginning:

So, as long as you realize that your warranty will/might be voided all or in part, get cracking. HTC's instructions are several pages long, and pretty in-depth. You'll have to get the Android Device Bridge (ADB) up and running, as well as HTC Sync (for Windows users) and the latest version of Java.

HTC Details Upcoming Bootloader Unlocking Process For New And Select Existing Devices Via A Web-Based Tool

Earlier this month HTC released details about their roll-out plans for its bootloader unlock process and the devices that would be supported. Today, in answer to some of the questions posed by HTC’s Facebook fans, HTC released an update on how the bootloader unlocking process will actually work and why HTC’s newest phones are still shipping with a locked bootloader.

As mentioned in their earlier post, HTC is continuing to make every effort to release OTA software updates within the month to enable unlocking of the HTC Sensation followed soon by the HTC Sensation 4G and the HTC EVO 3D.
