samsung-infuse-4g-android-gingerbread-update
Last Updated: April 9th, 2012

A little over two months ago, AT&T released Gingerbread for the Samsung Infuse 4G. Turns out that it had some "issues," so the update was yanked, leaving many users with half-functional devices and others update-less.

After taking the update back to the lab and Frankensteining on it for a while, Samsung has now made available the new build (UCLB3 for those who are into knowing that sort of thing) for Infuse 4G owners. Like with most Samsung updates, you'll need a copy of Kies Mini to pull the update. Once you have that, connect your phone, select 'Kies (Firmware Update), and the rest should be easy peasy.

The folks over at Fusible have discovered that Samsung has filed a trademark with the US PTO for three new names: Galaxy Sire, Galaxy Perx, and Galaxy Lift. While we don't have any details yet, we do know that we're looking at phones and not tablets - the trademarks were filed under the "Mobile phones; Smartphones" category.

Given the names, I'd guess we're looking at carrier-branded versions of the same device. I'm really hoping these are budget phones and not the SGSIII, as "Sire," "Perx," and "Lift," certainly don't strike me as flagship names. What do you think?

How many times have you thought to yourself 'you know, I have this super-fast device on a super-fast LTE connection, but my SD card is just too slow'? Even if you've never actually had that thought cross your mind, Samsung has an answer to this quandary: microSD cards that are four times faster than the current high-end cards.

Samsung_16GB_UHS-1_microSD_card

These 16GB cards will offer a maximum sequential read speed of 80MB/s, which is quite a jump compared to the current high-end cards that are only capable of 21MB/s read speeds. Since they're so fast, they're being targeted at LTE devices, as the SD card speed is the last bottleneck left in the constant quest for the ultimate user experience.

If you really want an Android tablet, but don't want to kill your wallet, then picking up a refurbished model is a great way to save some coin. I know a lot of users have "refurb-phobia," but that's generally pretty unjustified; refurbs are usually just as good as brand-new gear, but sold at a fraction of the price.

There's no doubt that the Galaxy Nexus is one of the best things Verizon Wireless has going for it right now. If you've been thinking about jumping over to Big Red so you can grab the Android 4.0 flagship, but can't justify the $300 price, then AmazonWireless and Wirefly are here to save the day.

Both of the online retailers are offering the GN for a mere $80 with a new two-year agreement, so the toughest decision that you're left with is which one one to buy from.

As the old saying goes, "When it rains, it leaks ICS builds for a whole lot of Samsung devices on AT&T's network in a short time frame." At least that's how I learned the saying as a boy. While it didn't make sense then, now that Android 4.0.3 has been leaked for the Galaxy Note, rounding out the Samsung/AT&T trifecta of flagship devices, it all makes sense.

As with the previous leaks, also courtesy of RootzWiki, this build flashed its build.prop badge at the door to let us know it's the real deal:

Indeed, it looks like Note users can now join the Samsung family at the dessert table.

Earlier this month, Engadget got word that the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Nexus S should resume its rollout "in the coming weeks." This go around, the update is rumored to be rolling out to the Nexus S 4G on Sprint, as well; those rumors appear to be realized with today's leak obtained by Brief Mobile: a fully-flashable, seemingly final build of ICS for the NS4G.

The leak appears to be a full ICS ROM, including updated radios, boot.img, bootloader, recovery, system.img, and userdata.img.

This is for the Nexus S 4G ONLY.

In order to flash this file on your device, you'll need a couple of things:

Flashing this will completely wipe your device!

The CyanogenMod team has done it again, bringing their CM9 build for AT&T's variant of the Samsung Galaxy SII to nightly status, and releasing the build to the CyanogenMod mirror network just yesterday.

The build actually released just before news that a seemingly official (and fully TouchWiz-ed) build of ICS had leaked for AT&T's SII, so SII owners have a couple of great options to satisfy their Ice Cream Sandwich cravings. To grab the first (and latest) CM9 nightly for the i777, just follow the link below.

Some owners of the original AT&T Galaxy S II may have been left feeling unwanted when Ice Cream Sandwich leaked for the GSII Skyrocket a couple of days ago, but now they have their very own version to download and play around with.

This morning, RootzWiki posted a leaked built of Ice Cream Sandwich for the original Galaxy S II, and looking at the build.prop file alongside the screenshots of the build, it seems to be the real deal from Samsung, just like the leak for the Skyrocket.

If you're running Windows and have a copy of Odin on your PC, then you will be able to go ahead and use the one-click installation file available at the source.

It looks like users of Samsung's Galaxy SII Skyrocket are getting a chance at some Ice Cream Sandwich goodness a little sooner than anticipated – earlier this evening, RootzWiki posted a leaked build of ICS for the Skyrocket, dated March 14th. From the build.prop, it would seem that this may be the official release build, but of course there's no way of being positive.

Those with Windows and a copy of Odin can download and flash away. RootzWiki assures Mac and Linux users, however, that a solution is on the way. If you're tired of reading and want to get ICS on your Skyrocket already, just hit the download link below.
