Samsung Announces Orion - A Cortex-A9 Based Dual-Core Mobile CPU

Remember the Cortex-A9 we talked about just a few days ago - the one that can clock in at well over 2 GHz on a 28nm process? Turns out Samsung has had its eyes on that bad boy for a while - they've now announced a mobile CPU based on the architecture (one caveat, though - the chip is manufactured on a 45nm process).

The lack of a major die shrink may keep things running at a more reasonable clip (1 GHz), but the improved architecture still allows for huge improvements over today's tech.

No Super AMOLED On The Samsung Galaxy Tab, But It Still Won't Suck

Yeah, Samsung knows you WANTED a Super AMOLED display on that Galaxy Tab but, unfortunately, it looks like that won't happen. We just saw the video (below).

After I dried my eyes, Samsung's executives in the video reassured me that the Super TFT they opted for instead is still great looking and offers even better battery life than super AMOLED. They also said that the Super TFT was developed in parallel to the Super AMOLED (so it's not old news) and is the best TFT display that you can get.

Today, Jamezelle and I ripped apart the leaked system dump from the yet-to-be-released Verizon Samsung Fascinate and patched together six live wallpapers that are not present on other Galaxy S devices.

Like the previous Galaxy S live wallpapers, these must be flashed from a custom recovery, which also means you need to be rooted.

Download the zip below and flash it through your recovery menu like any other flashable zip.

Verizon To Release Samsung Fascinate September 9 For $200 On Contract, Buy One Get Any Free

Not a bad news day for a Friday, eh? Android Central just got an awesome tip (and accompanying blurrycam photo from the Verizon system) which seems to confirm the rumored launch details of the Samsung Fascinate. Namely, the device will be launching 9/9 with new-contract pricing of $200. Better still, it'll be buy-one-get-any (BOGA) - in other words, it looks like you can actually get two Fascinate's for $200. Not a bad deal at all.

Rumor Has It Samsung Galaxy Tab Will Go To Sprint

Seems like Sprint is really turning itself around lately, doesn't it? They've managed to stop bleeding customers in the past few months, and it's a fairly safe assumption that their ever-expanding lineup of awesome devices has something to do with it. Looks like they're looking to continue the trend, too: BGR's heard word that the Galaxy Tab will be headed to Sprint sometime in November.

They don't provide any details other than that, so hopefully this ends up being reliable.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Hands-On Preview Roundup; Consensus: It's The First Serious Android Tablet

Ever since the first rumors about an Apple tablet started circulating around the blogosphere, we Android enthusiasts have been dying to see an Android tablet of equivalent caliber, and it seems like Samsung's new Galaxy Tab might just be the one.

Unfortunately, Android Police did not have a chance to visit, simply because no member of the team lives close enough to Germany to drive there in a reasonable amount of time, and not one of our readers offered to pay for the plane tickets (how disappointing!).

While we do not yet know for certain what this new "Android-powered device" will be, the invitation does include the "Galaxy S" brand logo.
