Gingerbread (Build UCLB3) For The Samsung Infuse 4G Available Again, Might Actually Work Correctly This Time

A little over two months ago, AT&T released Gingerbread for the Samsung Infuse 4G. Turns out that it had some "issues," so the update was yanked, leaving many users with half-functional devices and others update-less.

After taking the update back to the lab and Frankensteining on it for a while, Samsung has now made available the new build (UCLB3 for those who are into knowing that sort of thing) for Infuse 4G owners. Like with most Samsung updates, you'll need a copy of Kies Mini to pull the update. Once you have that, connect your phone, select 'Kies (Firmware Update), and the rest should be easy peasy.

A few days ago, we received a mystery package from the good folks at RadioShack. Inside the package were three phones - the Samsung Stratosphere on Verizon, HTC EVO Design 4G on Sprint, and Samsung Infuse 4G on AT&T. Since these phones are ours to do with what we please, we've decided to do what we always do when we end up with extra goodies: give them away.

Since we have three phones to hand out, we're going to make each contest quick and dirty. Each one will last for one day, and one day only.

[Leak] Android 2.3.5 Now Available For The Samsung Infuse 4G And Galaxy S 4G

Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S 4G on T-Mobile or the Samsung Infuse 4G on AT&T have been waiting quite a while to leave Froyo behind and move into the world of Gingerbread. While Sammy and AT&T or T-Mobile have yet to drop the flag on an official OTA for either device, the good folks over at SamFirmware have released leaked versions of Android 2.3.5 for both devices.

Since these are leaked, there's not much of a changelog floating around, nor is there any indication of whether or not this is a final build. What we do know, though, is that these are made to be flashed with ODIN, so if you're not familiar with that process, you should probably do a bit of research first.

AT&T Promises Gingerbread To All Post-Paid 2011 Android Phones

It looks like the ATRIX Gingerbread update that started over the weekend is just the start of a line of updates set to hit all AT&T 2011 model post-paid smartphones by the end of this year. Ma Bell is standing on the rooftop shouting out this glorious news for all to hear, along with a list of the phones that will see Android 2.3 sometime this year:

HTC Inspire 4G
LG Phoenix
Motorola ATRIX 4G
Pantech Crossover
Samsung Captivate
Samsung Infuse 4G

Once the ATRIX update is complete, the next device to get some Gingerbread lovin' will be the HTC Inspire 4G, with the update rolling out "in the coming weeks."

Where applicable, the updates will be in delivered OTA (over-the-air) fashion, but in some cases may require PC intervention (because we all know how much manufacturers love their proprietary software).

AT&T Expands U-Verse Mobile App - Now On The LG Thrive, LG Phoenix, And Samsung Infuse 4G

The U-verse AT&T Mobile app that allows users to access their DVRed shows and movies, as well as the entire mobile library of over 700 shows, from their smartphone picked up support for three more devices today: the LG Thrive, LG Phoenix, and Samsung Infuse 4G, bringing the total number of supported devices to more than 20.

In related news, AT&T also pushed out its U-Verse Service and Support Tool app (SST), which offers customers quick access to a gaggle of support documents and tools for their U-Verse TV, internet, voice, and email services. Users will also be able to check their U-Verse service status (including notifications of outages or other issues), restart their TV receiver remotely, and even chat with tech support - all from their Android phone.

Remember the Samsung Infuse 4G? Yeah, the one with 4.5-inch screen and 1.2GHz processor that just hit AT&T shelves two days ago. Well, continuing with its newly-found source-code-release motif, Samsung dropped the code for the Infuse 4G over at the Open Source Developers Center.

Samsung Infuse 4G Allows Sideloading Apps, Has AT&T Finally Changed Its Ways?

It's shaping up to be quite a day for AT&T users, isn't it? First the Infuse 4G announcement, and now even bigger news: it appears that the aforementioned device also allows apps to be sideloaded! As you may remember, AT&T has blocked sideloading since its first Android device - the Motorola Backflip. Sure, there have been ways around that restriction, but it's a simple service that all Android users should be allowed to enjoy.

According Phillip Berne, the Infuse 4G that he has in hand does indeed allow apps to be sideloaded. This is really great news for AT&T users across the board, as maybe the tides have finally turned and all users will be able to enjoy the little things in life - like the Amazon Appstore and its free premium app of the day.

Samsung Infuse 4G To Hit AT&T On May 15th For $200 With Two-Year Agreement

There was a little bit of speculation about what AT&T and Samsung would be announcing at their event in New York today, but if you guessed it would be the Infuse 4G, then you hit the nail on the head. This 4G beast is set to hit the AT&T sales floor on May 15th for $199 with a two-year agreement, and is a nice middle-of-the-road device for anyone looking to upgrade but isn't interested in the current stock of phones available on Big Blue. Take a look at the specs:

1.2GHz Hummingbird processor
8.9mm to 9.24mm thin
8MP rear camera with 720p video capture
1.3MP front camera

Android 2.2 with Touchwiz
