[Deal Alert] T-Mobile myTouch 4G FREE Until 5/5/11 From T-Mobile With 2-year Contract

The HTC-made T-Mobile myTouch 4G was originally priced at $149.99 for new users signing up for a contract and $450 off-contract. Then in early November 2010, the price dropped to $79.99. Today until 5/5/11 (i.e. tomorrow), the mid-range Android device is completely free on T-Mobile with a 2-year contract after a $250 "instant discount" and $199.99 "web-only discount".

Strangely, the refurbished models are still priced at $49.99. Someone at T-Mobile must have neglected to change their prices!

For comparison, the same phone is available from Amazon Wireless for $80 and Wirefly for $120.

The device is a real bargain considering it comes with 4G (if you consider HSUPA+ 4G) connectivity, a front-facing camera, a 5MP rear camera, 720P video capture, a 1 GHz processor, and built-in Swype keyboard.

[Deal Alert] enTourage Pocket eDGe Dualbook Android Tablet/e-Ink Reader $150 At Woot.com Today (May 4th, 2011)

The enTourage eDGe Dualbook is one of the more interesting devices released last year due to its 2 screens - a 7" touchscreen LCD and a 6" e-Ink. Similar to the Spring Design Alex eReader, the Dualbook lets you read ebooks on one screen while simultaneously Googling, browsing Wikipedia, checking email, and doing anything Android lets you do on the other screen. However, if you find yourself reading late at night, just throw the book over to the LCD screen, and suddenly you can read in the dark. Pretty cool, eh?

The tablet/eReader features a 1.2GHz Marvell ARMADA PXA168 CPU, 3GB internal memory, a microSD slot, Android 1.6 (although a 2.2 ROM is supposedly floating around), a 2MP front-facing camera, a speaker, a microphone, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

[Updated] T-Mobile G2x Now Available From Amazon Wireless For $149.99

The LG G2x, the first dual-core Android phone on T-Mobile, is officially available at all retail channels starting today, April 20th. While you can go pick it up at T-Mobile for $199.99 after an instant discount and a mail-in rebate (plus a nice kickback to Uncle Sam), you could instead head over to Amazon, where the G2x page just went live, ready to be delivered to your abode via free 2-day shipping.

The pricing works out to be a cool $149.99 for new family accounts and both individual and family upgrades. ~~Strangely, the price doesn't hold up for new individual accounts, rising back up to $199.99~~.

Report: Twitter In Talks To Buy TweetDeck For $50 Million

I know the subject of Twitter buying another company is not directly related to Android, but considering the importance of the social service in our day-to-day operations and the target of the rumor being TweetDeck, a crowd favorite when it comes to Twitter clients, I thought I'd give this one a mention.

According to a report published today by The Wall Street Journal, Twitter is reportedly in talks to buy TweetDeck for $50 million. This comes after relatively recent news of UberMedia's $30 million bid in cash and stock. As we've seen, UberMedia and Twitter don't have the best rapport, so keeping TweetDeck out of UberMedia's hands may well be in the best interest of Twitter itself.

Ad-Free SoundHound Infinity With A Homescreen Widget Is Today's Amazon Appstore Free App Of The Day

If you've ever needed to identify a song that is playing somewhere around you, you've probably already used SoundHound or Shazam which both listen to your surroundings and pop up the best guess - usually right on the money.

The two apps are pretty similar, though they obviously use different algorithms, so I always keep both on my phone just in case. Additionally, SoundHound recognizes humming and whistling, which makes it even more valuable.

While the free version of Shazam allows only 5 IDs per month, SoundHound went unlimited in their basic app a few months back. So, why would anyone use SoundHound Infinity then, a $5 app that is free in the Amazon Appstore today, when they could identify an unlimited amount of songs for free?

Amazon Appstore Doubles Down: Farm Frenzy And Newsweek Mobile Both Free Today

That's right, Amazon's offering not one, but two free apps on the Amazon Appstore this morning! You can pick up the popular HeroCraft title Farm Frenzy along with the official Newsweek Mobile app from Amazon free of charge.

I don't know about you - but I can't tell which is which.

Newsweek Mobile offers Amazon's "Test Drive" in-browser emulation, so you can try it from your browser before making the 15 second commitment to put it on your phone. Anyways, load up the Amazon Appstore (if you can) and grab these freebies while the getting is good.

Update: We've gotten in touch with Herocraft, the developer of Farm Frenzy, about extra permissions that their game uses (such as access to contacts).

"Famous Androids" T-Shirt Goes On Sale At RIPT For $10 - Buy This Awesomeness Before It Goes Away For Good

If there is one thing I love buying, it's Android t-shirts (in fact, our own apparel store has close to 30 designs alone, most of which I own). The number of them in my closet goes well into double digits, and even though it is going to literally explode soon, I can't idly sit around and ignore the awesomeness that showed up at RIPT Apparel today - "Famous Androids."

The daily t-shirt deal shows a unique design every day, costs $10, and then goes away forever, unless the author lists it elsewhere. At the time of this writing, about 12 hours are still left, so hurry before it disappears.
