The Galaxy S5 is on its way. AT&T, US Cellular, and T-Mobile all have pre-orders available, so people can call dibs without waiting for the device's April 11th launch date to arrive. Now as Samsung prepares the phone for its simultaneous launch in over one hundred countries, the first official firmware has made its way online. This one is for the Chinese variant of the SM-G9009D, and it's available for download over at SamMobile.
Samsung may be preparing to announce the Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress later this month, and one of the features it's sure to detail is an updated version of its S Voice assistant. We saw a few screens of this app leak recently, but now SamMobile has gotten some hands-on time with the app and has the screens to prove it.
Can you hear that? The growing din of excited Samsung fans is rising as we move ever closer to the announcement of the company's new flagship device. Samsung is rumored to be giving its UI a facelift on the Galaxy S5, and that may extend to the S Voice app. A pair of leaked screens show what appears to be the new UI for Samsung's voice assistant.
Google I/O is coming and it's time to get excited! It's like Christmas in June! It will be here in just a few
short agonizing weeks - and we need to prepare. There is background information you need to know, rumors you should have in mind, and past announcements and acquisitions that need to be remembered. Google always leaves little news breadcrumbs for those that pay attention, and I pay attention.
S Voice is Samsung's entry into the fledgling "virtual assistant" market currently occupied by Siri, Evi, Speaktoit Assistant, Vlingo, and a handful of others. The Galaxy S III rom leaked earlier today, and while most of the stuff in it is broken and completely useless without the version of Touchwiz it's meant to run on, S Voice is a perfect combination of being interesting AND working. So we're going to take a look at it on my Galaxy Nexus, which is currently running vanilla (well, AOKP) 4.0.4.
Hey kids! Looking for an early taste of the new Touchwiz? Well you're in luck! A leaked Galaxy S III ROM is out in all it's bandwidth crushing glory! A whopping 800MB download awaits those eager to get their hands on Samsung's latest.
The Galaxy S III and its new version of Touchwiz will make about a million additions to Android. Somewhere in this download are things like S-Voice (a Siri-style virtual assistant), Pop-up Play (a floating video window), and Smart Stay (which uses the front facing camera to refresh the screen timeout), just to name a few.
After months of rumors and teasers, we finally got the chance to see the Samsung Galaxy S III first hand last night, at the company's Unpacked 2012 event in Earl's Court, London. Following many (many) free drinks and canapés, Suzi Perry - who hosted the popular Gadget Show here in the UK - took to the stage to kick off proceedings and introduce JK Shin, President of Samsung's mobile division, who officially introduced the new Galaxy to us.
