[Rumor] The Second-Generation Chromecast Is Coming On September 29th With Spotify Support, Better WiFi, And "Fast Play" In Tow

It's been more than two years since the Chromecast was first announced and released. What started as a cheap gadget with a closed ecosystem has turned into an open platform that allows you to throw media from almost any app, service, and device to a bigger screen near you. Want to cast everything you're doing right now on your phone? Sure. How about those photos you took during the last holiday? Yes. And that funny cat YouTube video, your partner would sure love that? Aha. Some background music with a photo slideshow while you're working in the kitchen? Why not. That's the reason I bought a "dumb" TV and a Chromecast — I couldn't understand why I'd have to pay hundreds of dollars for some low-grade SmartTV system when I had all the possibilities available to me through an independent $35 dongle.

[Update: Different Angle] Best Leaked Image Of LG "Nexus 5" (2015) Yet Appears To Show Near-Final Hardware In White, With Fingerprint Scanner

The image you're seeing above is the LG "Nexus 5" (Nexus 5X is in the running for the retail name), leaked by AndroidPIT this morning. We can confirm the image is legitimate.

The only detail I'd note that might be wrong on this image is that we'd previously seen an LG logo along the bottom of the device (below the Nexus logo), though it's possible this will only appear in some markets or that it was removed from the final design of the device.

[Rumor] WSJ: Amazon Is Set To Release A Cheap 6-Inch $50 Tablet In Time For The Holidays

Rumor has it that Amazon is struggling to sell its more expensive Fire tablets. The company has been releasing its Android-operated but Fire OS-coated tablets for a few years with competitive pricing, but even that doesn't seem to be enough to keep it balling as hard as it wants and in the big leagues. Last year, it barely held 1% of the US tablet market according to IDC, compared to Apple and Samsung that had a combined 42% share.

Amazon's Fire HDX 8.9" can go up to more than $500, which may be a bit too much to pay for a screen you consume books and movies on and buy Amazon stuff from.

Cool Your Jets: These 'Leaked Photos' Don't Show A Colorfly Nexus 8 Tablet

Have you heard of Colorfly, a European importer of cheap whitebox Android tablets? Yeah, neither had we, at least until a rumor started circulating that this tiny company would be making the next Nexus tablet. The news began with what's almost certainly a faked Geekbench screenshot showing a "Nexus 8" running on a "Colorfly Hero" motherboard, and continued with a couple of photos posted to a Chinese website. The photos have been paired with the screeenshot, the implication being that this is the same device.

Possible Photos Of Huawei's 'Angler' 5.7-Inch Nexus Phone Appear Online

We've seen what might be leaked photos of the 5.2-inch, LG-made successor to the Nexus 5, now we've got photos that are claimed to be the Huawei phone that's coming at the same time. Google+ user Tiessen Fu posted three photos of a previously unseen phone with both "Nexus" and "Huawei" labels on the back.

The photos show the front and back of the device, and what looks like a standard protective case. There's a circular area on the back (which is more or less the same as the design from the previous leak), and considering that the case has an access hole cut out for it, it's presumably a fingerprint reader.

[Rumor: Fries With That] Internal Notice At McDonald's Claims Android Pay Is Launching August 26th, So Maybe It Is

Android Pay was announced at Google I/O around 3 months ago, and Google has since said we can expect the platform to launch here in the US sometime "later this year." It appears "later" could now be "like, next week," if this notice to employees at a McDonald's location is to be believed.

The August 21st launch for Samsung Pay is wrong, but it's the launch date for the devices (Note and S6 Edge+) - which seems like an honest mistake.

Report: Verizon Will Get A US Exclusive On The Moto X Play As The 'DROID Maxx 2,' DROID Turbo 2 Will Have An 'Unbreakable' Display

When the economical and long-lasting Moto X Play was announced specifically without US availability, it raised a few eyebrows here at Android Police. Some of us speculated that Motorola's tight relationship with Verizon, which goes all the way back to an exclusive on the original QWERTY-packing DROID, might have something to do with it. According to a report from Phandroid, that may indeed be the case. The site is reporting that the American carrier will sell a customized version of the Moto X Play as a sequel to its 2013 flagship, the DROID Maxx.

That makes sense: the Verizon-exclusive (at least in the US) Maxx line has always highlighted huge batteries and long usage times, and the Moto X Play uses a 3630mAh battery, larger than either the flagship Moto X Style or the enormous Motorola-made Nexus 6.

An Alleged Leak Of LG's Nexus 5 2015 ('Bullhead') Pops Up On Google+

Wondering what the Nexus 5 2015 "Bullhead" that we've been speculating about for the last three months might look like? An alleged leaked photo of the phone might be our first glimpse. Indonesian Google+ user Inno Yudha posted the photo above to a Nexus enthusiast community on Sunday afternoon (US time). He gave no indication of what it is, but based on the clear "Nexus" label on the rear, the "not for sale" markers, and the general size, many are speculating that this is a pre-retail version of LG's Nexus phone.

We're pretty skeptical about this one. On the one hand it roughly matches fan-made renders published last week.

European Retailer Leaks A Listing And Price For A Blackberry-Style Physical Keyboard Accessory For The Galaxy S6 Edge+

A couple of days ago Evan Blass posted what looked like a render of the upcoming Galaxy S6 Edge+ - Samsung's new flagship expected to be announced at the Unpacked event on August 13th - wrapped in a gadget that doubled as both a phone case and a Blackberry-style physical keyboard. We passed on the story at the time, but more evidence has come to light that makes it seem a bit more plausible. Here's the original tweet from Blass:

Today Dutch tech blog GSMInfo.nl noticed an odd entry on a local web retailer: a listing for what looks like an official Samsung keyboard for the S6 Edge+.

Press Renders Of The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 And S6 Edge Plus Leak Online

"It isn't a real smartphone leak until we see press renders of the device by Evan Blass," that's how the saying goes, doesn't it? Well, Evan has tweeted an image of what seems to be the Galaxy Note 5 posing with its pen, right next to the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

The image confirms what we have already seen, more than once, of both devices. They'll have the same screen size, at 5.7" with a 2K resolution, and will likely be decked with an Exynos processor (though there's a rumor the S6 Edge Plus may run a Snapdragon), 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory on the lowest tier.
