On the evening of the 18th, Chinese tech site CtechCN began the circulation of an image representing an all-white variant of the Nexus 5, with the accompanying story that, according to a tipster, the white variant could be launched simultaneously with the black version, and presumably the version we've already seen with a white back and black front.

Tantalizing, right? The first issue with this image is the lighting. The highlights are all toward the bottom.

We've been seeing leak after leak about Google's rumored unified messaging service. Now, as more details get seemingly confirmed and and we even get a look at the possibly near-finished app, clearly this is the time for Google to acquire a competing IM service, right? Well, not so much, according to AllThingsD. As it turns out, Mountain View is not about to buy WhatsApp, a company that makes a product that Google is currently nearly done building itself.

Update: Several of you have pointed out that this same visual could be accomplished by holding a Galaxy Nexus in your right hand, with the pinky wrapped around the bottom of the phone. I tried this with a phone of comparable width, and it's pretty hard to emulate the image here to a reasonably precise degree. But, I'd say it is possible, though I think this interpretation is at least a little funnier (here's how I'm picturing it).

We'd heard whispers that the Galaxy S II might be getting an update to Android 4.0 on March 10th. After the announcement was immediately yanked from Samsung's site, we were skeptical. It turns out those suspicions were confirmed tonight via Samsung's official Twitter account. The date was errantly posted by Samsung's Filipino arm.

While the SGSII may not be receiving its update tomorrow, this does at least let us know that Samsung is working on it.
