Fans of Spacetime Studios - the firm behind Pocket Legends and Star Legends - make ready your thumbs, because the company has released a limited beta version of its newest game, Arcane Legends. For the time being, the game is only available to users in Australia and Canada, but is expected to be released to the masses sometime around the week of November 19th.

Now you're talking, Square Enix. After releasing Final Fantasy after Final Fantasy to Android, the RPG legend has gotten around to releasing everyone's favorite non-terminal adventure: Chrono Trigger! For the uninitiated, what's taking you so long? This game has been out since the Super NES and has been emulated to death! Heck, it's even available on the DS. You're out of excuses now, it's time to play.

Now Androis users can also experience the entire, time-spanning adventure.

We know how you like your games. Engaging with a hint of hilarity and fantasy. Penny Arcade, legendary webcomic and gaming community taste-maker, has released the third installment in its turn-based RPG Penny Arcade's On The Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 3 to the Play Store. $3 gets you access to the entire adventure, extra DLC and a "rejiggered UI," which just sounds fancy!

If you've ever played Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, or been on the internet for five minutes, you should feel right at home in this game.

If you can say nothing else about Square Enix, the company sure is raising the bar on both Android game prices and scope. With the recent Final Fantasy ports, mobile gamers with some cash to spare have had the opportunity to spend a considerable amount of time in mythical lands leveling up and fighting outlandish enemies. If you're looking for something in that neighborhood that you haven't played before, though, Chaos Rings has finally been ported to Android, and it looks fantastic.

Kairosoft is a gaming company that has built a name for themselves on quality. Their simulation games have constantly topped many reviewers' "best of" list for Android titles, and personally they've enthralled me for many an hour.

It seems almost peculiar, though, that they've never delved too deeply into in-app payments or other models that are more prevalent on the Android platform. Kairosoft has stuck to their guns and delivered a full game for a set price, forgoing "pay to win" shortcuts in favour of good mechanics and pure fun.

Android gaming is becoming a bigger deal all the time with high-end games launching on the platform every week. The Bard's Tale is something a little different, though. Not only is it a highly anticipated game with similarly high production values, it is the biggest game I'm aware of on Android. With 20-30 hours of content and 3.5GB of game data, this is a real time investment. Let's figure out just how special The Bard's Tale is.

No, it's not the Bard of Avon, but this smarmy rogue should still be able to keep you plenty entertained. The Bard's Tale is a Diablo-ish RPG starring Cary Elwes (best known for ruining your perception of the Dread Pirate Roberts and Mel Brooks' Robin Hood by doing this). Complete with absurd humor, catchy drinking songs, and adventure galore, this game promises to keep you engaged for up to 3.5GB worth of your time (for Tegra device owners, 1.7GB otherwise).

The older among you may remember back in the hallowed days of the Apple II The Bard's Tale was a neat text-based RPG that gained quite a following. Well, fast-forward 20-something years and The Bard's Tale arrived on iOS as a reimagined 3D action RPG. Now that same version of the game is destined for Android, and it's going to be a Tegra exclusive.

The original Bard's Tale was heavy on pithy humor, and its modern reincarnation follows that script.

Games on Android continue to get bigger and more elaborate. One of the top developers leading the way in less-than-casual gaming on the mobile platform is Idea Factory (together with Hyperbox Studio). Previously, the company released Spectral Souls, a 1GB RPG for $15 that promised hundreds of hours of gameplay (as any decent RPG would). Today, the similarly priced, and even larger 1.2GB sequel lands on the Play Store: Blazing Souls Accelate.

If you've got a hankering for a good top-down turn-based RPG, Shadowrun Online will have you covered... eventually. The developers have been promoting a Kickstarter to fund the development of their game, and it has passed its goal of $500,000. That means Shadowrun Online will be coming to Android, among other platforms, in May 2013. Yes, that's quite a wait, but now there is some sweet gameplay footage to tide you over.
