CyanogenMod 6.1 Comes To The Dell Streak, Gives Us An Idea Of What 5-Inch Tabletphones Should Be

Froyo for AT&T's version of the Dell Streak has certainly been long in the making - and it looks like it AT&T still isn't ready to release it - but users who simply can't wait any longer now have an option, albeit an unofficial one.

CyanogenMod 6.1 Alpha has just been ported over to the 5-inch tabletphone, and while the experience is said to be imperfect as it stands, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, and hardware acceleration are reportedly all in working order.

Video Of Barnes & Noble NOOKcolor Running Android 2.2.1 AOSP Surfaces, But Details Are Scarce

Details are stupidly scarce on this right now - there isn't even an XDA thread, and Google's not showing any hits either - but YouTube user jacememes has uploaded a video of a NOOKcolor running an Android 2.2.1 AOSP (Android open source project) build. That's certainly a fast turnaround time, given that the device was just rooted a few days ago.

The video was shot with an Android phone, so it's not the best quality, but it's more than enough to show what it needs to.

New Version Of MIUI ROM Now Rolling Out Over The Air, Bringing Built-In Theming, Better Folders, CPU Management, And Major Speed Increase With It

The MIUI ROM is definitely one of those things you'll either love or hate, but judging by the waves the arrival of the latest version of the mod has been causing, the community (or at least most of it) is of the former opinion. And rightly so, if you ask me - the ROM is now even faster, features user-creatable (and downloadable) themes, and pinch-to-zoom on homescreens, among many other additions.

CyanogenMod 6.1 RC1 Now Available For T-Mobile G2/HTC Desire Z

Exactly a week after getting rooted and only a few days after getting its very first CyanogenMod nightly release, HTC Desire Z and T-Mobile G2 owners can now upgrade to RC1 (release candidate 1), bringing it up to speed with the rest of the devices supported by the CM team. Apparently, these guys move at light speed.

G2/Desire Z owners should consider themselves lucky, as Cyanogen himself owns a G2 and maintains this CM branch - that's when you know you are in good hands.

T-Mobile TV Ripped Out Of myTouch ROM, Now Available For Download [UPDATED]

Looks like the new video-enabled Yahoo app wasn't the only thing ripped out of the leaked ROM for the new T-Mobile myTouch - the T-Mobile TV app, which is no unfamiliar sight, has just been pulled out of the ROM as well.

As we can see in the screenshot above, the interface is quite slick, with a nice black bar along the bottom to select content providers (FOX News, MSNBC, ABC News, CNBC, ESPN, and NBC Sports from what's visible).

myTouch 4G ROM Already Up And Running On Nexus One, AndroidCentral Go Hands-On

As is traditional following the leak of a new ROM dump, developers have already set to work porting the novel Android flavour to other devices. As he did with the Desire HD ROM, XDA-developers' eVil D: has stepped forward to provide a working port of yesterday's HTC Glacier/myTouch 4G ROM to the Nexus One. Cautioning that he "may or may not support this", eVil D: goes on to describe the semi-functional state that the port is currently in:

What works:
Wifi
Radio
Bluetooth

What doesn't work:
camera/camcorder
videos
Wifi UMA calling = bootloop (you've been warned!)

Requirements:
Common Sense (this is a VERY EARLY build)
SDEXT (512mb) partition *Use clockworkmod or RA 1.9.0+

AndroidCentral got the ROM running on their own Nexus One, and their screenshots provide a good insight into the "Espresso" Sense UI of the myTouch 4G itself.
