Parachute pants, big hair and pastel sport coats might not be the height of fashion these days, but ten years ago gamers were in the midst of a digital revival. Grand Theft Auto Vice City rode on the massive (and well-deserved) success of GTAIII with a fresh setting, a more character-driven story and a refined sandbox world that makes it a series favorite even today. Those who want to relive the glory days of the 1980s (and 2002) can download the game on Google Play for just five bucks.

Does Vice City live up to expectations? Well, yes and no. The technical aspects of the game, and Rockstar's ambitious commitment to the sandbox style, haven't aged well.

When you think of the legendary icons of rock, who comes to mind? KISS? Queen? Santa Claus? AC/DC? All good answers, but only one of them is the subject of today's amazing game: Santa Rockstar. This rhythm game, a la Guitar Hero, puts you behind the reins of the sleigh, and you have only one hope to bring cheer to all the head-banging girls and boys: pick that ax like Christmas depends on it. Because it does.

If you've ever played a rhythm game, you know how this goes. Hit the notes as they come down the line. I know what you're thinking.

Dear Android game developers: always use the Play Store for those massive extra downloads. Rockstar has got the message. They've returned the open-world classic Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to the Play Store after a few initial hiccups, and now there's no pokey downloads from outside sources. They've also fixed various bugs found in the original release, so fell free to shell out five bucks for a trip back to the 80s.

If you've never played Vice City (and you're 18 years or older) then you should. Many gamers, including yours truly, consider it the best entry in the series thus far.

At the end of October, Rockstar Studios announced that the mobile version of its smash-hit Grand Theft Auto: Vice City would be coming to Android and iOS. Now, it has announced an official release date of December 6, with a $4.99 price tag across all platforms.

The release marks the 10th anniversary of a game many remember from the Xbox and Playstation 2. This version will be enhanced for mobile screens, including updated character models, lighting, and different control options that should make the experience as smooth as possible.

The company previously released Max Payne and Grand Theft Auto III to the Store with decent reviews, and now have better hardware to work with.

We just heard that Rockstar is planning on bringing the excellent Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to Android later this year, but it looks like they've got even more good news. Today you can get Grand Theft Auto III, the original sandbox game, for just $.99. It's normally $4.99, but to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Vice City, you can pick it up for a special price for an unspecified time.

GTAIII was no small feat when it was released in 2001, and even today you'll need relatively new hardware and about half a gigabyte of space to run the game on Android.

If you've got fond memories of speeding through "don't call it Miami" Vice City to the sounds of a drugged-up Scottish hair band bickering in the back of your limousine, good news: you'll soon be able to take the experience with you. Grand Theft Auto developer Rockstar has announced that as part of the 10th anniversary celebration for GTA: Vice City, they'll be releasing mobile versions for both Android and iOS later this year. Vice City's release will come about a year after the mobile version of the original crime sandbox, Grand Theft Auto III.

Were you were too young to enjoy (or buy) Vice City when it hit the PS2 way back in 2002?

Max Payne for Android has finally arrived, marking the second classic Rockstar title to hit Android (GTA3 having been the first) officially. Let's cut to the chase: for $3, there's really no reason not to buy this game if you own a compatible tablet. Well, maybe if you just hate shooting things.

There are also quite a few compatible phones, though unless you're using an Xperia Play or Galaxy Note, I can't say I'd recommend spending the money. This was a game designed for 17" monitors and full-size televisions back in 2001, and while it scales well to 10.1", anything smaller than 5" is probably going to be frustrating to work with (that's what she said).

Let's travel back in time together. Free your mind, and journey back with me, if you will. It's the sixth of April, two-thousand and twelve. One of the most anticipated games in recent months has just been announced: Max Payne Mobile. The crowd roars.

The game was expected to hit the Play Store on April 26th. We all waited with baited breath, but it never happened. So far as Android is concerned, everything goes dark.

Fast-forward to the present day - new information is now available regarding this illusive throwback. Rockstar posted on its blog that we should expect to see this title hit the Play Store in three days' time, on June 14th.

Four months ago, Rockstar games brought one of the most iconic video game titles of all time to Android devices: Grand Theft Auto III. With that, came car theft, trashy hookers, shady criminals, and enough violence to satisfy even the most brutal among us. Fast-forward to today, and Rockstar has announced the release date for yet another iconic title: Max Payne.

The crime-laden world of vigilante cop Max Payne will be landing on iOS devices on April 12th, with an Android release just two weeks later, on April 26th. The game has been fully optimized for mobile platforms and includes HD graphics, high-resolution textures, "Social Club" connectivity, and user-customizable controls.

I want you to take a mental journey with me. Dig deep into your memory banks -- all the way back to 2001. You there? Great. Think, if you will, about the the state of video games. The Playstation 2 was the hottest console on the market (okay, that's debatable) and Grand Theft Auto III was the game to have. Kids loved it as much as parents, teachers, and other authority figures hated it, due to its (then) graphic nature. Violence. Crime. Scantily clad hookers. That game had it all.

Fast forward to today. Wouldn't you love to relive all the GTA III action without having to blow the dust off your old PS2?
