Official Grooveshark App Makes Its Way Back Into The Play Store

Over a year ago, Google removed the Grooveshark app from what was then the Android Market due to a violation of the terms of service. Of course, with a service like Grooveshark, being removed from the Play Store was just the first of its worries - the company has definitely seen its fair share of legal issues over the last several months. Still, after its departure from the Store, Grooveshark continued to offer the app free of charge through its website.

Those days have come and gone, and after "working closely with Google," the Grooveshark app has been fully reinstated into the Play Store.

Galaxy Nexus Now "In Stock" In The Play Store, Order Returned To The Universe (Or At Least The US)

After Apple's recent success in filing a preliminary injunction against Samsung Galaxy Nexus sales in the US, the device vanished from the Play Store. Shortly after that, the 9th Circuit Court temporarily lifted the ban the Galaxy Nexus briefly appeared for sale again with a note that the device would "ship soon" (1-2 weeks).

Just moments ago, however, order was restored to the universe (or at least the US) – the Galaxy Nexus is now "In Stock" and can be ordered for delivery between 3 and 5 business days.

While it still isn't clear whether the Galaxy Nexus will end up needing the rumored OTA update that would mitigate Apple's complaints with the device (Apple was given until July 12th to respond to Samsung's motion to stay the ban), we'll be tracking the case and keeping you updated with new details as they emerge.

Californians Seek Damages Over Faulty Apps, Play Store's 15-Minute Return Window

Seeking damages for California residents who have purchased defective Android apps and were disallowed a refund, Android users Dodd Harris and Stephen Sabatino are suing Google under the pretext that the search giant's 15-minute refund window is unfair.

The pair claim that Google's pocketing of a 30% commission on defective apps and denying a refund after 15 minutes is wrong, using the practices of other app stores (those run by Amazon and Apple) to illustrate their point. This may not be the best comparison, however, as Apple's store has a "vetting process," meaning not all sellers are allowed to provide their wares to the public, whereas Google's Play Store is an open market.

Google's 15-Minute App Return Window Unlawful In Taiwan, Google Pulls Paid Apps In Response

Well, this is an interesting turn of events for the Android Market's universally-despised 15-minute app return window. According to the Taipei Times, the Taipei City Government was recently alerted to Google's Android Market return policies - policies that violate Taiwanese consumer protection laws requiring any product bought over the internet to have at least a 7-day "trial period."

Earlier this month, the Taiwanese government gave Google a 15-day ultimatum to revise its app return policies to include the mandatory 7-day trial period, but Google refused to comply. Faced with a $1 million fine for non-compliance, Google, after negotiations with the government broke down, decided yesterday to remove all access to paid apps for Android devices in Taiwan.

[I/O 2011] Android Market To Support And Host Apps Up To 4GB In Size; 15-Min Return Policy Tweaked

One problem that Android app developers (specifically game developers) have had to face is the size limit for apps in the Android Market, because up until now it's been a measly 50MB. For most apps that is more than enough, but for others - like graphically intense games, for example - it's not even close, so developers had to jump through hoops and implement downloading of additional resources manually. Remember Spectral Souls with its 1GB of data?

Good news, though - today at I/O, Google announced that as of June 2011, the Market will support apps of up to 4GB (well, 4GB + 50MB) in size, which should be large enough to house just about any game we could possibly want on our devices.

Update #4: If Notion Ink is planning to unveil Adam at CES, why are they not listed in the CES exhibitors list?
