Panasonic Eluga Coming To Japan On March 29th, Europe In April

Panasonic is set to enter the high-end smartphone market in Europe and Japan in the coming weeks with the waterproof and dustproof Eluga.

We first saw the Eluga at Mobile World Congress last month, and although it looks like a great phone on paper, with a dual-core CPU and qHD display, it disappointed us when we went hands-on. Nevertheless, this is still big news for the European market, where Panasonic isn't known as a smartphone brand at all. The waterproof feature is sure to give the phone a head start against its competitors; in case you didn't know, it tends to rain a lot in England...

Sprint And HTC To Make Announcement On April 4th, Will Almost Certainly Be Sprint Version Of The One X

Update: We've blurred out some information from the invite at Sprint's request. Excuse the artistic license taken. By the way, the announcement will take place in New York City and starts at 5:30PM EST sharp. Oh, and the blurred out part at the bottom said "click here." In case you were wondering.

A handful of media outlets have begun receiving invitations to an event showcasing HTC and Sprint's "latest collaboration," and if it's anything other than an EVO-branded version of HTC's new flagship device, the One X, we'll be thoroughly surprised.

HTC Drops ICS Kernel Source For Sensation, Sensation XE, Vivid – Get It While It's Hot

Just under a week after starting the Sensation's Ice Cream Sandwich Rollout, HTC has dropped the ICS kernel source for the Sensation, Sensation XE, and Vivid, much to the delight of their respective development communities. This news follows hot on the heels of Samsung's Galaxy SII kernel source drop, and seems to suggest a promising pattern among the two manufacturers of maintaining punctuality in releasing source.

For the many developers who have been prodding HTC to release the source since the devices' ICS updates started rolling out, this is great news, and should give a jolt to Sensation and Vivid development.

First CyanogenMod 7.2 Release Candidate "More Than Ready For Everybody To Enjoy"

In a post to the official CyanogenMod blog today, arcee announced that the first CM7.2 release candidate, based on Android 2.3.7, is ready to go for 70 devices. The entry also notes that 7.2 brings with it a few backported features and fixes from Android Ice Cream Sandwich, as well as a few completely new features. Those interested can see a complete change log here.

Since 7.2 is still in its release candidate stage, arcee notes that users are welcomed to report any bugs they encounter while running RC1:

Samsung Says Galaxy S III Launch Date Rumors Are Untrue, Won't Even Confirm It's Called The Galaxy S III

It's always strange to see a company directly comment on rumors about its own products, but Samsung doesn't seem to take issue with it, as a statement they made to The Verge late last night confirms.

The latest speculation Samsung has cracked down on has been in regard to the Galaxy S III, stemming from a ZDNet Korea article that indicated the device would be unveiled next month. Here's the rough Google translation of the original tweet from Samsung's Korean arm regarding the issue:

Verizon's DROID Fighter And LG Cayman Release Dates Leaked

According to a new document acquired by Droid Life, the DROID Fighter and LG Cayman (which, according to DL, is the LG Lucid 4G) are slated for official releases starting later this month. The LG Cayman is poised to debut March 29th, while the DROID Fighter will be appearing April 12th. Interestingly, the release dates shown match exactly with the workshop dates we reported a couple of weeks ago.

In addition to the LG Cayman and DROID Fighter, the document lists a couple of new devices – the HTC Fireball (which Droid Life's sources are calling the Incredible 4G), and the Samsung Plato, which Droid Life last saw way back in August, listed for a January release.

If you were following along with us and the action of CES, then you undoubtedly caught the announcement of the Droid RAZR MAXX, an 8.99 mm thin beast packing a 3,300 mAh battery that will likely outlast you in terms of needing to recharge. While it is nearly 2 mm thicker than the original Droid RAZR, it is still incredibly thin for how long the battery lasts. It can supposedly blast through 21 hours of straight talk time, and considering the fact that any sane person doesn't talk on the phone for 21 hours straight, the battery will definitely keep you up and running during a day of heavy use.

The Galaxy Note from Samsung, a device that has an almost cult-like following at this point. Those who love it, really love it. Those who hate it, well... just hate it. Some say it's too big, while others lust for its 5.3-inch Super AMOLED HD display. Unfortunately, U.S. users have been left wanting since the Note's release a few months ago. Sure, we've seen tell-tale signs that it is indeed going to land stateside eventually, but Samsung has now removed all doubt.

The company stated during its one-million sales milestone announcement that the device will be coming to the States in 2012.

In a major "Surprise!" moment, Huawei has officially released what looks to be a demo build of Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) for the Honor (model number U8860). Details are incredibly light at the moment, since all we're really going on here is a product support page that's been Google Translated from Chinese to English and contains next to no information:

According to the poster at XDA, the posted update is actually just a "demo" (beta?) and not the final version. A Huawai Senior VP (Yu Chengdong) has been sharing pictures and some details via Chinese social media service Weibo (auto-translate is including such gems as, "I use black Honor, equipped with the latest 4.0 version of the operating system Andrews.

Ready to add another rumor to the pile surrounding the US Galaxy Nexus release date? No? I don't blame you. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to stop this whirlwind of release date madness.

We've been hearing December 9th as the final release date for the Galaxy Nexus on Big Red for several days now; heck, an orgy of proof showed up yesterday that all but confirmed it - or so we thought. Now we're hearing that 12/9 isn't the day after all. No one is sure what's actually going on, but we can say that we're not alone - a slew of other sites are hearing the same thing.
