A mere seven months ago, we saw the launch of Google's Play Store gift cards, a much wished-for addition to the store front that made gifting the store's digital content almost as easy as it should be. Unfortunately for international users, though, the cards were only destined for the US at launch. When "redeem pages" popped up in the UK's online and device-based stores in mid-December, many thought the cards would hit retail stores in time for the holidays.

The year was 2012. A mere two days before the alleged Mayan apocalypse—and about nine days before people stopped making tired old jokes about it—we got wind of the Developer Edition of the Galaxy Note II for Verizon. There were three differences between this handset and the version you could buy in the carrier's stores: it had an unlocked bootloader, it's unsubsidized, and it was not available for sale yet.

Even though ExZeus 2 was announced for this summer, it’s not until this weekend that it finally came to Google Play. The reasons behind the delay of the sequel to ExZeus Arcade (which is currently rated 4.2/5) are unknown, but it’s worth noting that for now the game is only compatible with NVIDIA Tegra devices. Other versions are scheduled to be released by the end of the year.

So, what’s ExZeus 2 all about?

If you haven't heard of David Maisel, allow me to fill you in: he's been an executive producer (read: important decision-making guy with broad yet vague duties in getting a movie together) for virtually every one of the Marvel Phase One movies including both Iron Man flicks, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America. I tell you this so you'll have at least a little bit of hope to cling to when I tell you that he's been signed on to produce the Angry Birds movie, alongside Despicable Me producer John Cohen.

AT&T has already launched its version of the Galaxy Camera, so now it's Verizon's turn. Arriving in both white and black options, the nation's largest carrier will be offering the high tech point and shoot for $550 without a contract. This is a little bit steeper than AT&T's $500, but to make up for it, the carrier is allowing customers to add this device to their existing shared data plans for $5/month.

GALAXY Note II Product Image_Key Visual

Hey Verizon customers - I bet you've been jealous watching all the Note II action on other carriers, haven't you? We've seen the releases come, and Amazon Wireless slash prices for basically all versions of the device. Still, everyone on Verizon was left wanting. Good news! Big Red just announced that the Note II will be available beginning tomorrow, November 29th for $300 with a two-year agreement.

So, if you can handle the obtrusive branding on the home button and are willing to dedicate two more years of your mobile life to VZW, you can stroll right into a Verizon retail store and walk out with your very own Note II first thing tomorrow.

Amazon, "in accordance with certain free and open  source software licenses," released today the open source code files for their 8.9" Kindle Fire HD, one of the latest tablets to join their wildly successful e-reader lineup.

The source code release comes about five days before the HD 8.9 was scheduled for official launch (though it actually began shipping today), giving those who want to tinker, develop with, or simply ogle the fresh batch of source a fair lead time.

Today, with the official release of the Nexus 4, Nexus 10, and Nexus 7 HSPA+, Google has released the Android 4.2 SDK, "a new and improved Jelly Bean."

Along with the SDK release, Google has made available SDK Tools r21, the Android NDK, and of course some helpful API documents. Highlighting some of the benefits of the new SDK (and, by extension, Android 4.2), Google touts "Renderscript computation directly in the GPU" for the Nexus 10, "a first for any mobile computation platform," lock screen widgets, Daydream, incredibly enhanced support for external displays, and optimizations for international users.

It's a big day for AT&T devices! For starters, the headlining LG phone that's managed to grab our attention as the best not-a-Nexus device the company has put out in recent memory. The LG Optimus G goes on sale today on the nation's #2 carrier for $199 with a two-year contract. Of course, for $100 more you can pick up a Nexus 4 from the Play Store, though you'll lack LTE.
